Game Boy & GB Advance Appreciation Thread

I hear you, Wiper. The original GBA is by far my favourite.  The back lit SP's can be had for £75 plus postage if you're willing to import one and hope you don't get stung by customs. Expensive, sure, but you're not going to get a modded original for anything like that these days.

I've been looking at videos of the EZFlash IV and it's strengthened my resolve to hold on for the Ever Drive. The software just looks so shit. I remember all the similar farting about it took to get my R4 working properly on the DS years ago and I don't have the patience any more. The drag and drop simplicity of an ED is worth the extra price for me. I'm old and stupid.

Where can you import for £75? I'd pay that.

There are two from Germany on ebay from £71.  Several from America starting from around £40. One from Russuia for £70 (which, going off the box is a dodgy clone).  Type AGS 101 into the search box.

Ah right yeah I've looked at them but they are very vague about the condition.

I'm thinking about importing an old style GBA from America with the 101 screen.

I wouldn't worry about the condition.  You can pick up an AGS-001 SP for next to nothing and swap the cases over.  I reckon you could do that for considerably less than buying a modded original if price is the deciding factor.

I will have a look on youtube to see how hard it is changing cases over.

I suppose I could attempt the mod myself if I get the screen.

I have an EZFlash IV Micro SD and it was a pain to convert all the roms, one by one! Only a handful of games don't work but i have a pretty good rom set already converted now ;). I am also hoping for an Everdrive but for now the EZ Flash paired with a Micro is so much gaming in such a small package!

Well I'm going to take the risk.

I've now bought a Game Boy Advance cheap from eBay. Only cost £15 and looks in good shape.

I've ordered a 32 pin ribbon adapter and found someone that will supply a AGS 101 screen at a good price.

All I need now is a soldering iron

Interesting bit of news but someone has created a device to replace the GB Printer and save whatever the camera creates to an SD card

I'd love one of these as I'm a bit of a Pocket Camera addict, but $100?!

I found my GB in the attic yesterday. Tried it, seems to work but had a few issues - took a while for the game to load, kept showing "NINTENDO" messed up. Tried lInks awakening, when i got it to work the sound dissapeared after a few mins. Also the contrast button is a bit crap.

I'd like to get one of the back lights and mod it, would be a cool project. Also, the case is pretty yellow.

Try cleaning the cartridge contacts.

Yeah I'm sure that will sort the cartridge issues for sure, maybe even sound. Ill give it a go later if i get a chance.

I'm reluctantly flogging my collection.  Took some pictures to send to the potential buyer, but the forum refuses to put them up.

What you selling?

About 85 boxed games and 80 unboxed games.  Also two GBA SPs (one Famicom, one US backlit one), a gold GBL, a Pokemon GBL, a Famicom Micra, and an original Gameboy - the western release with Tetris.  The latter is particularly painful - it's complete, with the headphones in original packing, and not a scratch or dead pixel on the screen.  But my wife has pointed out that I never use them, and many of the games are brand new and unused, so she has a point.

At the end of the month, someone will come over with a view to taking the lot.

Almost certainly I will, but I never use any of my Gameboy stuff, so we may as well sell it and get something I will use.  Some of it is still in the wrapping in which it was purchased.  I've photographed it for a possible buyer who may be interested in taking the lot.  Here is what's going:

Unboxed Gameboy games:

Unboxed Gameboy Color games, Gameboy Advance games and two Gameboy games (the yellow Donkey Kong ones)

{option}http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b400/tokyobaggie/DSC_0009_zps37llvlyc.jpg[/IMG]

Boxed Gameboy games.  There are doubles of some of my favourites (like RC Pro Am)

Boxed Gameboy Color games (also have McDonalds Monogatari, but that is being sold to someone else).

Boxed Gameboy Advance games

Hardware.  I tried to sell the Pokemon GBL on here and ntsc-uk a few years ago, but the buyer messed me about.

The Gameboy still works perfectly, without a scratch or dropped pixel.  It's missingTetris, though.

Couple of bits I forgot to put in the first pictures

These Kirby games are all brand new
