ABOUT

Quote

EARTH HAS CHANGED

Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces and XCOM, the planet's last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda below and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to rise from the ashes, expose the insidious truth behind the occupation, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.

XCOM ON THE RUN

Take command of the Avenger, an alien supply craft converted to XCOM's mobile headquarters. Guide your strike force around the world, build popular support and expose the aliens' sinister plans.

RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS

Five soldier classes, each with its own skill tree including new class abilities like Momentum, let you create specific soldiers for your tactical plan.

TACTICAL GUERRILLA COMBAT

New gameplay systems offer more tactical flexibility in combat. The state of the world affects each combat mission's environment. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols. Loot enemies for precious gear and artifacts. Rescue VIPs and save fallen comrades by carrying them to the extraction point.

A NEW BREED OF ENEMY

A diverse cast of enemies from powerful new alien species to the ADVENT, enforcers of the alien regime, offer a distinct tactical challenge.

RESEARCH, DEVELOP AND UPGRADE

Configure and build rooms on the Avenger to give XCOM new capabilities on the battlefield. Use your Scientists and Engineers to research, develop and upgrade weapons and armor to fit your preferred tactics.

EACH MISSION IS A UNIQUE CHALLENGE

Go on missions around the world, from wildlands to the heart of the alien-controlled megacities, to the depths of alien installations. There are virtually infinite combinations of maps, missions and goals.

CREATE CUSTOM MODS

Community-focused tools allow you to create your own campaign, tactical gameplay, aliens, classes, strategy game features, and share within the Steam Workshop.

ENGAGE IN HEAD-TO-HEAD MULTIPLAYER

Mix-and-match squads of humans and aliens battle head-to-head on randomly-generated maps.

edit - have handed the thread over to VN1X.

We got a thread for this?

http://www.adventfuture.org/

Borderlands and Civilization publisher 2K Games is teasing something called Advent.

Advent is the game 2K is teasing on Twitter. No details were revealed, but 2K is directing everyone to a new website that sets up the games world.

The website, called AdventFuture, serves as an advertisement for a new technology by the same name that supposedly helps the disenfranchised overcome things like hunger, illness and pain.

The website also shows a different side of the story. The text keeps getting altered to convey a different message about the lies of Advent.

Getting a Crackdown meets watch_dogs vibe from the promotion site up top.

Maybe the X:COM Apocalypse to the firsts Enemy Unknown? Future city, faction war, etc.

I'm up for that.

I hope not. Apocalypse was dreadful. What I really want is Firaxis to do Terror from the Deep. Thermic Lances and Lobstermen.

And air bubbles! So you know you're underwater, like.

(And yeah, that concept art looks like it's hinting at a strategy game, to me; if nothing else, the buildings' heights and general sizes seem designed with an isometric, tactical-level perspective - rather than a first/third-person sense of scale and place - in mind)

Yeah, the rest of the concept art certainly looks like something from a strategy game but this particular one is straight out of BioShock/Rapture.

And Rapture

bioshock_rapture-t2.jpg

And direct from Hanger 13.

We’re currently creating an intense action game set in an immersive world and with a strong narrative, but player agency is at the heart of everything we do. We want to give players the freedom to choose how to overcome challenges and make meaningful decisions that shape the world and characters around them.

That first pic is totally a city built into a crater on the moon.

This piece of concept art from the VG247 page makes me think of an XCOM level though:

Those two advertising boards look like movie posters that are on some of the XCOM maps, really hope this is a new XCOM.

So not the Hanger 13 game then, XCOM sequel confirmed, and a multi-OS PC exclusive this time:

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--2K and Firaxis Games today announced that XCOM® 2, the sequel to the Game of the Year* award-winning strategy title XCOM®: Enemy Unknown, is currently in development for Windows-based PC. Developed by Firaxis Games, XCOM 2 transports players 20 years into the future, where humanity lost the war against the alien threat that has established a new world order. The secret paramilitary organization known as XCOM is largely forgotten, and must strike back to reclaim control of Earth and free mankind from the aliens’ rule. XCOM 2 is currently scheduled for release in November 2015. The game will also be coming to Mac and Linux via Feral Interactive.
