I'm in. Been playing Xcom last few days, bought the new one from cd keys today. Haven't activated the key yet. Do i get pre-order bonuses so long as i do that before 11pm then?

Just have to hope it works on my 'old' Alienware X52 rig I'm using whilst gathering parts for a new Skylake rig.

Pretty much all retail releases of steam games are now "steamworks" - ie the retail copy comes with a cdkey, but any reason I shouldn't order this from Amazon France? I have 50 euros in credit on my account and the game is 35 euros so not a bad way to spend some of the credit.

I'm being really stupid, probably, but can anyone help? I can't figure out how to do something after the third tutorial mission. Not really a spoiler but just in case-

Does anyone know how to move the Avenger or research the resistance communications? I get onto the world map, then after I click "investigate" nothing happens. Any ideas? I feel really stupid.

Expected this to release 6pm tomorrow, didn't preload and now I've wasted 2.5 hours of Xcom time - ah well my shift tomorrow is 3 hours earlier so It's probably for the best and I'll get a nice chunk of time tomorrow afternoon!

This runs pretty badly on my macbook. It's playable on medium settings, just about. Stuttering whenever something explodes, or breaks, or gets shot at. It's a shame because it looks great otherwise. Haven't tried 'low' settings yet.

I'll have to try streaming it from my PC, but I'm reading that it's got issues even with high end machines at the moment.

Yup, performance is pretty terrible. Frequently drops to below 10 fps in menus and the base, and stutters occasionally in mission (it seems to be capped to 30 fps). Let's put it this way: both Xcom 2 and Rise of the Tomb Raider defaulted to high settings and yet despite it's stricter requirements, I actually get a much better frame rate in RotTR.

I remember reading that one of the reasons they dumped controller support was to improve the UI for mouse and keyboards. After an hour of play I've yet to see anything that couldn't be done easily with a controller.

I noticed stuttering in the base (and very heavy stuttering immediately after finishing a mission), and I'd put that down to my aging setup (an i5 2400 and a GTX 680), but I'm guessing that I was being overly generous! Still, the actual combat runs without a hitch on High, so I'm not too bothered. And, you know, my 'quick go' last night ended at 02:30, so that's a good sign (for the game. I imagine today at work will be less fun than usual).

Anyone tried this with the steam controller? I heard there isn't pad compatibility atm and i doubt I'll be able to run this well from performance impressions at my desk monitor (3440 x 1440p res) than my 1080p telly
