Well that was fantastic. I need to sort out my Facebook though.

"These splatoon players are painful to watch"

"Why are they using items in smash?"

"Have they said anything about amiibo cards?"

"Didn't care about mother 2, going to give this bad title a miss"

:/

I'm just playing through Earthbound right now on Wii U, and loving it. I don't think I'll bother with the Mother 1 though as it seems like too much of a step back, but a Mother 3 translation at some point would be super good. Surely it's going to happen.

If that video is anything to go by, Super Mario Maker delivers on all of its promise but 99% of its content will be lost on my rapidly declining Mario skills.

There was lots to enjoy in LittleBigPlanet's user created levels but what are Mario makers going to do other than aspire to be more evil than Kaizo?

The official blurb:

Nindies@Home lets players test-drive 9 indie games during E3

15/06/2015

In order to celebrate the E3 2015 video game trade show in Los Angeles, Nintendo eShop is offering a promotion so that fans in Europe can be the first to play some of the hottest upcoming indie games on Wii U.

For a limited time only, the Nindies@Home programme lets people download* free preview versions of nine Nindie games from Nintendo eShop for Wii U from now until 23:59 local time on 22nd June 2015. Best of all, once the full games launch, players of the Nindies@Home preview versions can save 15 percent on the price of each respective full version for one month after their release**.

Games and developers participating in the Nindies@Home programme this week include:

Extreme Exorcism from Ripstone: In this paranormal Wii U platformer, every move players make comes back to haunt them. After each round players survive, a ghost will appear to mimic their every move from the round before. The longer a player survives, the more extreme the game becomes. The game offers 20 ghostbusting weapons, 50 challenges and co-op or deathmatch battles for up to four friends. The full game is scheduled to launch in Q3.

forma.8 from Mixed Bag: In a distant future, the small exploration probe forma.8 is stranded alone on the surface of an alien planet. Players must explore a huge open world to help the probe acquire 10 different power-ups and recover a powerful energy source deep under the surface. The game includes an area exclusive to the Wii U version. The full game is scheduled to launch this autumn.

Freedom Planet from GalaxyTrail Games: Players fight their way across the celestial world of Avalice, where cats are green, motorcycles drive up walls and monster girls do most of the butt kicking. This cartoony, combat-based platform Wii U adventure pits a spunky dragonoid and her friends against an alien attack force. The full game is scheduled to launch in August.

Lovely Planet from tinybuild and QUICKTEQUILA: This first-person shooter gun ballet for Wii U is set in a cutesy abstract world. Players jump and shoot their way through five worlds full of treacherous enemies with your trusty semi-automatic. The game offers a hundred levels to master and five worlds to discover, with multiple secrets hidden deep within each world. The full game is scheduled to launch in December.

Mutant Mudds Super Challenge from Renegade Kid: This platformer picks up right where the original Mutant Mudds left off. The game, which is exclusive to Nintendo eShop on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, includes 40 new dimension-bending levels and epic boss fights designed for super players. The full game is scheduled to launch this summer.

RIVE from Two Tribes: This metal wrecking, robot hacking Wii U shooter combines old-school gaming values in a new-school execution. With intense 360-degree shooting and platforming action, players learn to alter the behaviour of their robotic enemies by collecting and uploading hacks. The full game is scheduled to launch in November.

Runbow from 13AM Games: Up to nine players can join in the colourful chaos in this Nintendo eShop exclusive. The world transforms before players’ eyes with each swipe of colour, so think fast to stay alive. Go head to head in Run, Arena and King of the Hill, or play as the ColorMaster and manipulate the environment on the Wii U GamePad controller. Players can take on challenges alone or with friends in Runbow’s Adventure Mode. The full game also features guest characters from other Nintendo eShop titles. The full game is scheduled to launch in Q3.

Soul Axiom from Wales Interactive: More than 40 unique locations await in this first-person sci-fi Wii U adventure. The game is a psychological thriller with exploration and puzzle elements. Players interact with cryptic logic puzzles, make psychological decisions and explore memories to unlock the secrets of their identity. The full game is scheduled to launch in Q4.

Typoman from Headup Games: Change Words, Change Worlds! Typoman is a two-dimensional puzzle platformer distinguished by a unique game world. Be the HERO and set out on the journey to become whole and gain the powers you need to defeat the giant, evil demon that rules the world you are trapped in. The full game is scheduled to launch in Q3.

Mario Maker looks a lot better than the initial impression it gave, which was pretty limited. This looks like pretty big levels (or bigger than I was expecting from what I thought was just a novelty couple of screens thing), can imagine some very good stuff coming out of it.

So, it seems beating Sony's conference is impossible. How can they possibly tie it, in the least?

Metroid: Dread (New trilogy)

F-Zero 3DX

Starfox

Sin + Punishment 3

Super Mario Galaxy 3

Wet Organ (New IP)

More new IP

That's not going to be enough, is it?

The only way they could 'beat' Sony is if they announced Half Life 3 as an exclusive. And that ain't gonna happen. Still, I'll be happy if they announce some Platinum goodness and a new Metroid.

They need to announce Rhythm Tengoku as an absolute minimum. Advance Wars 3DS. Wouldn't be surprised if they announce the regular new 3DS for America. Mato's Mother 3 translation on the Wii U Virtual Console? New Mario Kart DLC. 4,500 new amiibo. Leisure Suit Larry U.

Microsoft and Sony have been really strong haven't they, especially Sony. I don't think Nintendo necessarily need to beat them, they just need to remain relevant for gamers, until they're able to talk about the NX next year. How they do that I've no idea. Sony have certainly nostalgia'd the fuck out of e3.

I just hope they focus talk and show stuff that we can actually play before the next E3. So many of the announcements so far have been for games that are still miles off - we're in 2015, so show stuff that's coming in 2015 (or Q1 2016) - save the late 2016 and beyond announcements for, well, E3 2016 and beyond.

I want to see what they are offering me now or in the next year, not some spurious tease that I can't touch for at least 18+ months.
