Nintendo have been quite good at that. Their big games always seem a mile off, but they tend to have lots of smaller games which are always only a month or two away.

I wouldn't be surprised if something gets announced and is available right away, unless they've already played that card with Earthbound.

At this point Donkey Kong racing would be a massive waste. In fact after MK8 it seems like any other racing game that isn't F-Zero would be a waste.

Wave Race U? I think I might even prefer that to a new F-Zero.

Arcade racers don't get made very often these days and that makes me very sad. Retro doing any kind of arcade racing game would be sensational news.

There have been rumours about another Diddy Kong Racing. Which is why I mentioned that one. Obviously it's highly unlikely to be happening.

I don't think Sony's E3 show from yesterday will be topped for quite some time. Truly the stuff of legends. Nintendo better have a contingency plan, because a whole presentation where a new Star Fox is the main attraction, is simply not going to do it.

And the worst thing is, that I can actually see them bringing just that. No new Metroid, F-zero, Wave Race or any of the amazing titles people are secretly hoping to see. Their excuse being that Star Fox is amazing enough and they are focussing all their energy and resources on NX now. I hope I'm wrong though.

I don't care about much of the stuff Sony or MS announced so I have set a low bar of Mario Galaxy/F-Zero GX HD remakes, that would do me. I was already sold on Mario Maker after seeing that video of Arino playing it the other month and would like to see more of it.

I honestly believe that it what is going to happen. Nintendo will hang their show on Starfox (which will be dissappointing as I don't believe they'll give the fans the Starfox they want) and Mario Maker, which looks great but is hardly going to get pulses racing for the majority. It'll be padded with more X, some indie titles and the new Fire Emblem on 3ds.

Metroid Prime and F-Zero, how can they possibly do those titles justice on a console that is going to be usurped next year? Nintendo have already shown that they can't schedule for toffee so I can't see how they have either of those titles (if they even exist) ready for the wiiu.

I hope I'm wrong too!!

I agree. We'll see soon enough but I just don't see the sense in bringing out a metroid for Wii U given the console isn't that successful. Might as well save it for start of next gen. Sadly I think Mario Maker + Starfox + Zelda (cross gen) is the last of the big games for Wii U.

I'm happy to be proven wrong of course.

I don't care about Shenume and having played FFVII for the first time in 2014, don't have any nostalgia for it, so for me they could match it with Zelda footage and new Metroid announced.

I feel quite depressed for the world of gaming that Shenmue and FF VII are still considered legendary, untouchable games.

The legends are coming

Yeah, I know, 2016/ 2017 innit? But even though I'm only really interested in the Last Guardian (that FF remake and Shenmue III really remain to be seen), you have to agree that that was one megat0n filled amazefest.

Still, if they only announce Star Fox U (which looks amazing of course) and that new Blast Ball game turns out to be a Metroid game for the 3DS (which I think has a good chance be true, considering they asked Next Level games to do a Metroid 3DS game at one point, but they weren't pleased with the results, so maybe they did give it to Retro - again - and simply because it looks a lot like a new Metroid Prime game), that'd do for me. Most people will still be talking about the Last Guardian, FF VII, Uncharted 4 and Shenmue III though.

FFVII is a long way from untouchable in 2015. That's why everyone is hyped for a remake. The original was a legendary experience that just doesn't hold up to replays today.

Posted this in the Star Fox thread but it goes for Nintendo's upcoming presentation as well:

Their E3 show is either going to be:

Slippyblabbering.gif

"You did it! I was worried for a moment."

Or;

Peppyhead.gif

"No!!!!"

I can tell you it will be both. Some people will see the positive stuff in it, some people won't. I could probably do you a good list of the people in those two camps already actually :)

I'm sure they'll be something in there that I'll love - as long as it's not all Animal Crossing, or Punch Out, or Smash Bros [DLC], or Balloon 'kin Fight. They can go swivel as far as I'm concerned - but I bet two of them show up :(

I played it literally last year and it holds up fine as a really good RPG? I don't think a remake is necessary, it's just fan pandering + PSX nostalgia.

You don't like Punch-Out?

Nope, never have, never will I suspect. It's just not my cup of tea. I appreciate it has fans as a series, but it's one I'd personally be very happy if Nintendo left alone. They're not going to though - I'd bet good money we're going to see a Punch Out title sometime between 5pm and 6pm today :(
