PES 2016

Wow, Master League is a step up in difficulty after just playing MyClub for a few games. Could be a long season for Burnley as their manager has no bloody clue how to use all the formation and tactics options  Still, a 2-1 loss on opening day is not a disaster.

 

Tons of slowdown during replays, feels really janky, but the gameplay is smooth and really nice. Has a more solid feel to it than the last FIFA game I played (14 I think). Tussles on the ball seem more realistic, I like it. Still horribly guilty of chasing after a player and pulling my man way out of his position though.

That's all part of the fun    The first season tends to be a bit of a dud in terms of achievement, while you slowly build a team of bargains, has beens, and upcoming youth, ready for that second season where you go for promotion!  

 

If you can get a decent cup run in that's always good for cash.  And remember to look out for 'free' players out of contract at the transfer windows.

Check your youth squad twice a season - once at the start, once in January. Lots of gems there.

I first played the PS3 version and noticed the replays straight away. After playing on my PS4 the replays are smooth but not sure it's worth upgrading your console just for that!

 

I think the graphics and detail are really good. I have still been playing the PS2 version of PES and this is the first PES on a modern console that ticks all the boxes. Okay, the keepers are a bit rubbish and the ref won't get his card out unless you murder someone but it has the perfect balance between realism and fun. Unless the new one is super cheap (which it won't be) i will be playing 2016 into next year too.

Apparently the refs and keepers have been fixed a lot for 2017 (but we've heard that before haven't we.)

Completely agree, I can live with the replays, the main game is silky smooth so all good (I won't be getting a PS4 until Ni No Kuni 2 or a new Elder Scrolls). And as I am not a massive payer of footy games, I'll be sticking with this for ages. Same as with Madden, I love that Franchise but I have stuck with Madden 11 as it's the one version that got the most things right on the PS3

Quick question on MyClub. My team had a crappy manager with low skills, so when I got shiny new players with all my Agents that I got with the new game, I decided to hire a new one. Weirdly, the one available who fit my squad best was Roy Hodgson. So my team looks better now, but when I looks at Preset Tactics in Gameplan, only Tactics 1 is Roy's. 3 and 4 are still the old managers. So I have 1 Main (Offensive), 2 Sub (Defensive), 3 Sub (Offensive). I want 2 and 3 in the same formation as 1 I suppose.

 

Tried to release my old manager but can't as it says he is in use with the current squad. Am I missing something obvious here?
