it never ceases to amaze me how many games seem to sell the rights to film adaptation

What is surprising is that SpyHunter hasn't got the movie treatment. Classic arcade game with standout use of the iconic Peter Gunn theme and then a series of 3D remakes (one of which featured Dwayne Johnson) plus surely it lends itself to the big screen. Slick spy action with some insane car chases and gadgetry. basically picturing a cross between True Lies and The Transporter.

The Rampage property was bought along with a bunch of other Atari IP by Warner in a fire sale years ago, so it’s more just them trying to make it relevant again and wring a bit of extra cash out of it.

They own Spy Hunter too, so you may get your wish!

They were making a Spy Hunter movie starring Dwayne Johnson. That’s why he was in the game, it was going to be a cross promotional thing but the movie fell apart.

I could barely make it through that trailer never mind a 90min film. Imagine it WITHOUT the Rock and just some generic action bloke.

imagine it with Jason Statham?

"oi, George, you cant, stop mahnkeying araaahn, and get a wiggle on!"

Oh also I've 100% worked out the final act. The other 2 monsters are going to proper gang up on poor George and TheRock will find a way of genetically advancing himself, become bit and sort of tag team partner up with George <_<

"... but that doesn't happen in the game!"

I can't be the only one who thinks that last trailer is brilliant, can I? You miserable sods. ;)

I'm in, The Rock lights up any film, and this looks like it knows it's nonsense but gives zero fuuuuucks.

Uwe Boll is threatening to sue! He wants the name changed, so people don't confuse this with his three unrelated Rampage movies, or any further Rampage movies he may make. This movie may shrink his brand.

Here's his full statement.

Quote

We are living now in a world where Independent Movies are dead and the big players only are making all the money. That they then use developed brands and ideas from established series such as my Rampage films in order to make even more money is unfair but typical. The new RAMPAGE movie will shrink my brand and my revenues I can make in the future with my RAMPAGE movies.  It also confuses the audience! I want that WARNERS change the title, especially because the new movie has nothing to do with a RAMPAGE and looks more like Jumanji 2 and is one of those typical feelgood, popcorn bullshit movies that the studios use to brainwash America even more! All these kind of movies including Transformers, Avengers are helping the military industrial complex in America to win and have retards like Trump be American President who would say that the earth is flat as soon they think they can benefit from this!

Saw this the other day. Now convinced if you put The Rock in a film about a man buying a green teapot on a wet Sunday in Rhyl it would be entertaining.

Rampage is obviously nonsense, but entertaining enough. Would like to have seen a little more Lord and Miller-style self-awareness but for a film about a giant gorilla smashing up a flying wolf, it's an amusing couple of hours. Jeffrey Dean Morgan also clearly got the memo and has an absolute whale of a time.

I'll echo the nonsense, but entertaining comment.

Its giant CGI monsters fighting the Rock and smashing up buildings, it rattles along nicely and there are some good one-liners/funny bits.

I was always a fan of the game and parts of the third act does replicate it quiet nicely!!!

Fun and stupid.
