Yes!

I never managed to complete it though :(

Cool. I have a few new games to play through now - I'll add it to the list. And postie just dropped Axiom Verge through the door, so...

Are they some of the best games on the switch, though? Or just the best 2D games.

I think my point stands (and he forgot Iconoblasts)

Fact is, if i want to listen to music thats written like its in the 70's, i use bandcamp. If i want to play 2D games, i use the Switch.

And lets not forget for most of the world - esp. those who don't game usually, people play more 2D games then 3D.... on their phone.

But the hardcore gamer knows the switch offers much better 2D games with proper controls and as a community we love the fact these great 2D games support the machine.

I’m just saying I don’t really get it. By all means, knock yourselves out. With limited time why spend it on something that seems redactive when there are all these big virtual worlds to explore. But that’s me and I’ve spent hundreds of pounds on amiibo that I keep shut in a cuboard so I wouldn’t listen to me.

You've missed the best one: Hollow Knight.

You appear to have misspelled Celeste!

Yeah I'll be surprised if I play a better game than Celeste this year. I haven't started Hollow Knight yet though.

Started Hollow Knight today, seems a slow and overwhelming start thus far...

Hollow Knight you need to push past the first area really. It is a bit slow and confusing at first, just make sure you buy the compass ASAP and that you find the map guy in each area as soon as you can (he's normally not far from the start).

And buy lots of pins to mark your map with or you'll make life much harder once you need to backtrack. The game does very little hand holding but it's fantastic once you get into it. Lots of genuine discovery, memorable bosses etc.

Celeste is great, but it's no Hollow Knight. Figure your way through the first area, buy a compass and then come back. ;)

Just finished Axiom Verge, nice little metroid clone, but with just a few minor annoyances which detracted from it, mainly that the map didn't track secrets, and with all the samey environments and lack of showcasing of what walls could be effected by drills it just meant I had to run everywhere drilling things trial and error style. Constantly retracing map steps just in case I'd missed something. Also, far too many weapons, weird boss difficulty curve, and personally I was disappointed in the graphic style. That said, I did have fun, and it's got me in the mood for more metroid style games. But prettier and polished.

Apparently Dark Souls Trilogy comes out on PS4 and XBone the same day as Dark Souls Remastered on Switch. Bandai Namco cockblocking the Switch version is just strange...

It's Nintendo, not Bandai Namco. DS is dependent upon Nintendo's (vaporware) online service. Stop demonising Bandai Namco for this; there are plenty of other reasons to do so. ;)

Why is DS dependent when no other current online titles are? I mean why is Splatoon 2 not, why is Fornite not, why is Morphies Law not, why is Minecraft not - but DS is?

Because some of those games are dependent upon infrastructure provided my Nintendo and others aren't? Morphies Law is probably P2P? Minecraft is running on Azure, Splatoon 2 is Nintendo and will be paid after NOS gets launched. Fortnite makes enough money to host their own infrastructure. Dark Souls requires a server to be run and presumbably this will be done through NOS and not through AWS/Azure or whatever. It's not that hard.

Sony made PSN mandatory, so views about NOS might be warped. TBH we still don't know the nitty-gritty of NOS so it could be for a multitude of reasons.

I don't think NOS comes with any sort of infrastructure does it? Hence why it's only £20 a year. If it does Nintendo have kept very quiet about it. Splatoon 2 is P2P by the way.

Nothing stopping Bamco hosting the services.

Yeah, I don't think the delay was online service related either. There was something, but I don't see it as being that - because if that was an issue, Nintendo would have known about it and I don't think they'd have given it the big Direct coverage they did. Also, there are loads of titles already out there with online functions from both large publishers and smaller indies - I don't see that DS has anything so specific it would have hit problems others wouldn't have (it's not like it was a system launch title for example).

I'm not sure we'll really know what it was for years yet (it'll probably come up in some interview way down the line).

It tells you when you've collected all items from a sector, but it doesn't mark on the map the rooms like metroid.

Is that not enough? You can usually work out the rest.
