Simplest is to set your account to South Africa on the Nintendo accounts section of their website. That's the cheapest eShop for almost everything (which you can use a UK card for; Mexico is outright cheapest but impossible for us to access). You can use your UK debit or credit card without hassle and you will save between 5% and 25% on digital games 99% of the time. Fifty quid games will normally cost you around forty on the SA store. It's absurd. They used to be even cheaper until prices were adjusted.

Check out:

I have easily saved a good couple of hundred quid in the last year. Easily.

Can I change this on my current account or do I have to make a new one?

@carlospie On any account, including your current main account, yep.

Edit: FAIR WARNING: If you add credit to a regional account and then switch region, you will lose any remaining credit. I have my card details stored so I never do that on my EU account, and just pay as I go. Also, any gold coins are associated with the region (oddly enough) rather than the account. As I leave it on South Africa 99% of the time, this is no issue for me.

You say Mexico is impossible for us to access - with a bit of googling Mexico is possible using a Mexican PayPal account and a Revolut card for verification, if you were interested.

It does sound like a bit of a faff.

Sorry but how exactly do you change it? I have googled to no avail

Can I really buy Bastion again? Yes... yes I can. Transistor too.

Treasure Stack looks right up my alley, so I am getting that for sure.

Is it weird to find it odd to hear Nintendo praise an indie for copying their own game? I mean, sure Indie Relations Guy probably never even heard of Wario's Woods, but still...

Sorry, you're right. Not impossible but beyond my motivation! I think the savings are slim enough for me to be happy with the SA store.

He really liked the Mario Maker homage too.

Just bought a Switch with Mario Odyssey!

Any recommendations on downloadable titles to buy, preferably ones that are great in couch co-op/competitive?

Mario Kart, obvs....Enter The Gungeon has a pretty crazy local multi mode.  Minecraft can do split screen.  You can do 4 player docked split screen on Rocket League and even 2 player on handheld.  Bomberman (if you can find it cheap) and Puyo Puyo Tetris are good puzzlers.  The first Shovel Knight has a co-op mode...Cave Story+ too.

Binding Of Isaac has an interesting co-op mode...if someone is playing, a 2nd player can join at any time (as a baby!), but takes a heart's worth of health away from Player 1.  Babies only ever have 1 health and never pick anyhting up, unless they are baby items!  They do however, fly all of the time.  They can also leave at any time, giving the heart back.

These are the only ones I've tried, there are more...like Hyrule and Fire Emblem...I've never tried Steredenn...in other words, there's bloody loads.  Have fun.

I've just bought this on the strength of that review. There's a 15% pre-order discount and with the points I had accumulated it came to just over £10.

The 15% discount isn't showing for me, alas. Though perhaps that's for the best, I don't really need to be tempted to buy yet more games!

But how do you know if it's shit without downloading it? I'm being slightly facetious but I do feel that the digital marketplace has to change. Steam's two hour conditions are certainly open to abuse but equally, I think there's a middle ground, if they were inclined to respect consumers.

Release a decent demo of game, even if the game's out.

Struggling with Hollow Knight, but willing to go with it.

Any recommendations for 4P games, ideally with physical editions, suitable for playing on a weekend meet of old geek friends? Intoxicants will probably be involved, so a low learning curve or just general old school familiarity would be good.

I’ve got MK8D and Puyo Puyo Tetris. I was thinking of picking up Overcooked (the original).

How’s Wild Guns for 4P co-op? Is the recent Worms game any good?

The 15% discount is applied if you own Enter the Gungeon, Minit, Crossing Souls, or Not a Hero.
