Coming into this thread is like going to a great restaurant with a friend where all they want to do is eat loads of starters like liver pate, when all I want is to get my teeth stuck into a big steak. The last decent steak I had was on 27 October 2017. :(

If you can't see the values of Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, Into the Breach and there ilk, then I just feel sorry for you.

I hate the binary categories of indie & AAA, 99% of the time it just means. In reality people mean. Small/Short/2D/Uses little processing power vs Big/Long/3D/Pretty/uses lots of processing power.

There has got to be a better way.

The 15% discount is applied if you own Enter the Gungeon, Minit, Crossing Souls, or Not a Hero.

Ah, that'd do it! While I own three of those, I do so on PC/PS4 only.

I think moving the indie releases into a new thread is a good idea so I can ignore it.

That's an idiotic attitude. Switch 'Indie' games have provided some of my best gaming this year.

Imagine missing, just this week, Into The Breach simply because it's not a £50 cart release....

I bought my Switch for Nintendo’s games, and anything else fun along the way from third-parties. Unfortunately the Switch is another Wii U in terms of its limited software library and sparse release schedule, and I don’t consider ports of cheapo smartphone/tablet games to be an adequate substitute for having enough decent games and a active release schedule. :(

I'm currently drowning in games I want on the Switch, and I don't think any of them are tablet or smartphone ports. Into The Breach is just the latest in a long line.

Likewise. The quality of indie games being released on a weekly basis is staggering; in the past, I felt that they simply aped the best 8/16-bit games that inspired them, but now they are far surpassing them in quality (Celeste, Hollow Knight, Hyper Light Drifter...).

I hope these games aren't being dismissed as 'cheapo smartphone/tablet games'!

That’s only because this year has been just about the worst year ever for games.

Damn....I shouldn’t have come in here. Only bought Hollow Knight the other day and now I’ve seen Into the Breach is out.....crikey.

Whether you like “indie” games or not I struggle to see how you could call the state of current releases sparse?!

If you have several consoles/PCs (that you still use for gaming these days) then I can see why you wouldn’t double dip. However, does a release of a console game like FF or SFV onto PC get the same criticisms against it?

I’ve double dipped on loads of current PC games that have been Switched because I want to play them in bed. Also, i’ve actually steered away from buying well reviewed PC games, because I think they would be a better fit for the Switch (Vita R.I.P.) and will inevitably turn up at some point.

I do buy everything though, so maybe my opinion is completely invalid. I’d not even got 20 hours into Monster Hunter World on PS4 but just _had_ to buy the PC version the day before a 2 week holiday (along with Dead Cells). And then when I come back, instantly buy Shenmue 1&2, then the next day, Monster Hunter Ultimate on Switch, mostly because I could transfer over my 3DS save and play on a bigger screen at better resolution. Then I double dipped on Into The Breach today.  I’ve not touched any of them yet.

I short, I am a massive twat.

:hat:

I can't think of one smartphone/tablet game port for the Switch apart from Gorogoa. All the other recent so-called indie ports were on PC originally (Hollow Knight, Into the Breach), or they're cross-platform releases (Celeste), or ports from PS4/XO (Gungeon).

Piczle Lines maybe? But Piczle Lines is sweet so that's more than ok.

It's not remotely in the area you're thinking of but for the sake of completeness, Gear Club Unlimited is a mildly warmed over mobile port.
