I've had fakes from Amazon themselves. There's a thread somewhere on here where others have too. Something to do with them coming from the same stock in the warehouse or something.

Yeah but lets be fair here this is you and Amazon where anything that possibly could go wrong will do.

The chances of getting a fake from Amazon themselves in the normal run of events is pretty minimal....

As I said, there’s a thread here somewhere. Chance might be slim but with Amazon’s fucking shite customer service I’d not be risking a potential return.

Fakes from Amazon are real unfortunately, as said all market place stock gets stuck in same bins if amazon are handling the sale - on the flip side you could pay for a fake and get a real one!

I'm pretty sure this isn't the case. I've twice ordered suspiciously Blu-ray's from fullfilled by Amazon marketplace sellers which turned out to be middle-eastern versions, while this has never been the case with their own stock. I've also long since learnt my lesson in that regard.

Try and fill it to capacity to check that it's as described. Just be wary that even a genuine card won't be exactly 200GB due to file system overheard and the 2^10/10^10 differences. It's more like the 200GB showing as near 200GB in Windows Explorer/Finder and then only actually having 32GB or something like that.

What's the best way to test them?

Also scan the bar code with your phone and see what the reads back... copied packaging usually relates to a different product and capacity.

All sorts of pointers... however the main thing is if it seems to good to be true on price then it probably is fake! :)

Ah, heck, my Joycon keeps reading full-on right lock; is this one of those things with a simple fix?

Did you try the calibration, or that squirting air fix? If that does not fix it, your options are

1. Warranty replacement

2. DIY stick replacement (not too hard, should cost under a tenner)

3. Out-of-warranty Nintendo repair (£30)

4. Buy a new one (£40)

Nintendolife are reporting a source has stated cloud saves will be the default setting for all games and developers will have to make a case for not having it.

Stuff like Dark Souls probably shouldn't have a cloud save.

I've seen people moaning about this again (stoopid Nintendo all games should use it without an opt-out), but it makes sense - for some stuff (like Pokemon trading maybe?) you perhaps don't want to support it in case it enables cheating, and for other cases saves might already be 'off-device' or handled by other accounts anyway (I'm thinking stuff like Fortnite/Epic Accounts maybe).

What’s the argument for not having a cloud save?

If you can copy the save you can duplicate items in games like Animal Crossing.

Couldn’t you do that with a save regardless of where it’s stored? I’d have thought local saves would be easier to duplicate.

Regardless, that seems like the sort of thing you could stop very quickly by using a machine ID and user ID.

In Dark Souls case you could reload from a point before you lost a large amount of souls or reload to try and get a rare drop. Not how the game was meant to be, so the developer might choose not to allow cloud saves. There won't be many games that justify it but there will be some.

What have people done for 2nd joycon grips?

I’ve got a 2nd set of joycons but Nintendo can get fucked if they think I’m paying £25 for the charging grip.

Struggling to find alternatives however.

Does it have to be able to charge them too? If not then I've used one of these and found it to be spot on:

That's a really weak reason to disable something as useful as cloud saving.

It really isn't.

The risk v reward mechanic is what makes Dark Souls so rewarding, if there was a chance to undo a mistake then the game would be significantly compromised.
