I didn't even know a new GRID was coming out. Yeah it looks like the PS4 i getting a brand new game in the seres. The switch one is a port of the 2014 game like a game of the year edition.

Random thought: I would assume with the SNES games being available with Nintendo Online, that we can expect N64 games to follow suit? Would they avoid this considering the Ocarina of Time remake is currently an existing game selling on the 3DS? Could maybe Game Boy Advance games be next?

I believe so. I don't think Nintendo are interested in doing a N64 classic due to the cost of the thing. It would make sense to bring the games to the switch, especially with multiplayer i think this would work really well.

The existence of the 3D remakes would complicate the N64 Zelda's coming to a potential N64 Switch Online service IMO.  I would think some kind of uprezed remaster would be more likely for both them & Mario 64, especially considering that aside from Mario & Zelda, the rest of the N64 lineup is either 3rd-Party, not that great, or already been bettered by a newer version.

N64 doesn't have emulation issues. Countless games came to the Virtual Console.

True, but honestly if they do get remade for Switch i think they would be a complete overhaul rather than what happened with the 3DS games. There is still an interest for the original games. I still would much rather play Mario 64 than the Mario 64 DS remake, or even Majoras Mask due to some of the poor changes made.

Plus a lot of people prefer the originals because they can be glitched or whatever.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we got a full remake of Ocarina or Mario 64 in the future, but i can't see it happening on the Switch (or at least this version of it).

A news story I was reading on the SNES Controllers for Switch said that it was "Unfortunate" that they could only be used for anything that doesn't need an analogue stick.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but with the large numbers of Retro-inspired and/or 2D games on the Switch (Sonic Mania, Hollow Knight, etc) that's actually quite a number of games isn't it?  And wouldn't those games actually be better when played with one of the best D-Pad's ever?

Yes but Retrobit haven’t released the Bluetooth Saturn pad yet. 8-)

You can literally run N64 games on the NES mini and SNES mini hardware.

How do you time trial ‘with pals’?

Oh, we're just doing it the old fashioned way, setting a time and challenging each other to beat it (with an agreement not to use Rewinds). It might be possible for two players to do an online pass-the-pad style thing maybe?

I hooked up my 8bitdo SF30 controller to the switch, which is perfect for the SNES games. Only trouble is that you lose the rewind/save state options because there’s no ZL or ZR buttons. Any way around that?

On the latest firmware there’s a button combo that opens the zl+zr menu, select+start I think.

Edit - Yeah, start + select on firmware 4.

Yay! Finally made it to the Metroids in Super Metroid and now have the Space Jump. Beating Draygon the quick way was great.

I’m now well beyond where I’ve previously given up.

switch is best

Spoiler

Those weren't metroids...

Turns out wall jumps in Super Metroid are nearly impossible with the analogue stick but fairly simple using the left direction buttons. This is where I gave up back in the day as I couldn't do the wall jumps then either.

tbf - from what I've seen so far, it's very much an optional technique
