I didn’t think there was any save data, worlds etc are tied to the Microsoft account so it just gets it from there whichever platform you’re on I thought? My son certainly didn’t lose anything anyway.

There's no Microsoft account - it's all offline. There's a cloud save, but deleting everything and restoring the save doesn't fix it.

Is it still £18 a year? Never seen any offers anywhere for Nintendo's online service. Still £18 is hardly going to break the bank and you get all those lovely NES and SNES games thrown in.

It was about £25 for a family sub a couple of months ago. From CDKeys, I think.

Single sub is £15 atm: https://www.cdkeys.com/nintendo/switch/nintendo-switch-online-12-month-365-day-membership-switch-cd-key

Ah right - yeah that’s a problem then. There is an option that says something like check for corrupt data which gives a redownload option after picking it but I wouldn’t be confident saying what it did with users files. Really it should leave them alone and just download the patches again, but it’s bound to fuck your over somehow

Yeah. The bugtracker is showing that even people who have realms and have managed to get the save working on another platform, are finding it's still broken when moved back to the Switch.

I hope they do sort it out as the boot time seems insanely long and we've had issues with profiles too. It's not what I expect from a big name studio.

I just thought - if everything's on a memory card at the moment (not sure how this works as ours is just using the internal memory), could you remove it and see what happens just using the internal storage? Is there an option to copy the save over?

Saves are only ever on the internal memory. But I've tried removing the patch data from SD, and even using a different Switch, but no joy.

About the online service - my Switch has two accounts - one JP and one UK.  If I subscribe to the online service with my JP account, will both accounts only be able to play the Japanese SFC games, or will the UK account get the PAL SNES games?

No, each one needs an online sub.

I have 3 accounts to access different eShops - UK, US, Japan - and the UK account has a Switch online subscription. I was able to download the SFC app from the Japanese eShop using the Japanese account. When the SFC app launches you just need to choose an account that has an active online subscription (the UK one in my case).

Yes. I’ve the reverse - a UK account, but I play both UK SNES and JP SFC games using it. Don’t see why it’d be different the other way round.

What do you get on the Japan apps that you don't with the UK one?

There’s a handful of different games, and you get the JP variants of the games and their box art.

I now have a switch lite (Pokemon one)

ive worked out how to share my account to download already purchased games

A couple of questions.

1- how do I transfer game saves from main switch to lite and back again

2- can I use Nintendo online SNES games and saves on both consoles? ( I have the twitch free deal thing)

1) Press + when you highlight the game on the home screen and it’ll be in the data options.

2) so long as you use the same account, yes. Your secondary console can only use it while you’re online, though, and you can’t use it on both devices simultaneously.

It would be nice to see Nintendo relax the rules on the 2nd console. I get it needs to regularly connect to the Internet to check everything of OK but once a day should surely be sufficient. I think it is currently every three hours which means you couldn't take two consoles on a flight and use them both.

It is a downside of digital games these restrictions. Physical games would have no problem with taking two consoles on a flight (obviously the same game could only be used at one console at a time).

I’d be happy to pay maybe 10% more for a digital game if it let me play it on two of my registered consoles simultaneously. Add it as DLC or something.

Having to buy it twice when these days iOS lets you shared with 6 devices for free is just an arsehole move.

So, I can’t play my lite on the commute. That’s why I bought the damn thing

EDIT: Solved the issue below, full reboot of the switch fixed it.

Got my 8bitdo USB wireless receiver this morning, but I can't seem to get it to work with my PS4 controller. It pairs fine, well at least I get a solid light on the receiver and the PS4 controller but it doesn't seem to recognise any inputs. I've done what it says with regards to making sure that the pro controller over wired is turned on in the settings. I'm running the console in docked mode with joycons in the side. I can't seem to find anything about this exact issue on the web (beside people saying it didn't initally work because of the pro contoller setting) Anyone else had this issue or did it all just work? (I've updated the 8bitdo firmware to the latest version as well)

Question about joycon connectivity.

I have a launch Switch, and have a yet never bothered to fix the blue joycon issue. The red one sometimes drops too, because our lounge is quite large, and the telly is a fair way from the settee. Also, the dock is on the floor, tucked down the side of the tv cabinet.

if I sit on the settee, it’s out of the line of sight of the joycons. I know this shouldn’t matter with Bluetooth, but does it?

if not, are other controllers more reliable than joycons? I want to spend at least some of Xmas playing my switch on the big telly rather than handheld, which is where I usually spend most of my Switch time. But Links Awakening is the kind of game that deserves to be on in the lounge at Christmas time :-)

thanks

My pro controller has been superb though doing the d pad mod (it was fine but I was bored!) did make it feel a bit better. Oh and incase you didn’t already know, the battery on them lasts for an insanely long time :)
