My left joy-con has gone again.

But it seems you can send them here for free repair? https://nintendoservicecentre.co.uk/

Got my left fixed by nintendo . Only took a month there and back. Anyone's guess at the moment.  Then the same  left one went sticky and weird, couldnt push al the way to the right ( fixed by WD40 contact spray. Now the right one has drift. Fixed by contact spray for 3 days. Will give it another blast.

Thank god you guys were talking about this! I‘ve had a problem with the left joycon drifting in Mario Kart for the past few days, of randomly varying amounts, and had ordered a repair kit off Amazon rather than wanting to be without it for ages.

But these posts somehow prompted me to realise that as A: it’s only been noticeable in Mario Kart and B: it occurred shortly after the wife wanted us to try using tilt controls for the first time (which we did for one race before abandoning it and going to bed), then the two might be related.

Sure enough, MK still has tilt control on by default, so although I’d been using the stick to steer the tilt control remained active and was fucking everything up :facepalm: Hopefully my Amazon cancellation will go through before it ships!

Looks like we might get more EA games this year.

Can't wait to see EA release Mass Effect 3 Remastered at full price on the Switch while the PS5 and XBox X get the trilogy.

C&C Remastered for switch? I might be up for some of that depending on the controls.

Friend is desperately trying to find a Switch (not lite). I think i heard shops should be getting some stock this week.

Mass Effect Trilogy for Switch would be bought.

I look forward to applying my £3.03 gold coin discount to its £99.99 asking price.

Here's hoping.... it's my son's birthday in a few weeks and he's been saving for ages to get one (and will have enough with birthday money).  I ordered one from Amazon on Friday but it went "missing" over the weekend.

If anyone sees them in stock anywhere, could you give me a nudge?  I'm currently checking the following sites a couple of times a day:

  • store.nintendo.co.uk
  • argos.co.uk
  • ao.com
  • very.co.uk
  • amazon.co.uk
  • game.co.uk
  • smythstoys.com

It's the first console (or indeed decent sized 'thing') that he's buying with his own money after saving up, so it needs to be new, and I'm not going to let him use any of the price-gougy marketplace resellers asking stupid money (which I'm guessing is where our 'missing' one will end up...)

@Darhkwing having said that, I just managed to place an order from Smyths, here https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/video-games-and-tablets/nintendo-gaming/nintendo-switch/nintendo-switch-consoles/nintendo-switch-grey-with-improved-battery-life/p/182023

Still showing in stock for delivery at the moment, but let's be honest, I'm not holding my breath!

Nice one, I've sent him the link!

Edit: And now I'm not - Smyths came through and delivered today - pretty speedy considering!  Thanks for the heads up though - this is the first time for aaaages I've wanted to buy something and couldn't immediately get it.

[Jeff Grubb of VentureBeat]: Oh, and that HD remaster of an EA game is the Mass Effect Trilogy. Just don’t expect that to also launch on Switch — at least not at first.

Oh FFS EA. LOL.

Still no details on what's coming this year

Was there no investor call? Looks like they just released the earnings report.

Edit: Call is going on now.

Means lifetime sales of the Switch has overtaken the SNES, and is now nipping at the heels of the NES.

I would imagine scheduling is a little up in the air right now - must be tough to really know if things are going to ready, produced in required numbers etc - I'd expect a lot of stuff to be held until they are 100% they can actually release it. Release date announcements might be much closer to actual release etc

Of course people are still doing the "omg lol what do they have for this year?!" in May when Nintendo do this every single year. Like rgraves says too, things will be even more in the air now, they even said as much during the conference call.

Quote

If the effects of COVID-19 are prolonged or worsen further, development schedules may be impacted due to the difference in development environments between working from home and in the office. In particular, the impact to overseas subsidiaries and other affiliated companies involved in development is anticipated to be even more difficult to predict than within Japan.

Quote

As a result of these factors, we may not be able to proceed with the release of Nintendo products and the start of services as planned. This is also true for other software publishers, so it may not be possible to provide game content on Nintendo platforms as planned.

Sony and Microsoft are facing the same problems, the difference is they tend to announce stuff a lot earlier than Nintendo tend to.

I read that as Nintendo-tend-o, like a familiar nickname for anyone not into that whole brevity thing.

For anyone wanting to buy a Switch and looking for stock, Argos are now allowing ordering of the system.

Purchased mine and it says I can pick it up from my local next Tuesday.

Unlike every other Nintendo platform since at least the n64 though, it's not like there's a lack of stuff to play, even if no more Nintendo games were to come out for it.

I’m sure this has been asked countless times so apologies in advance.

Mrs Mul bought Animal Crossing: NH and has fallen in love with it.

we’re at a point where she is using the switch way more than me.

if we were to buy a switch lite, how easy is it for her to transfer her save to the new console?

also, I don’t play ac:nh so is it possible for her to redownload the game on the lite without having to buy it again?

Very easy to transfer her profile. Maybe easy to redownload, did you purchase on your profile or hers?

@joemul @rgraves

Is it not 'one island per console'?

Anyone else able to answer that? I don't think she'll be able to transfer the island or progress in AC.

Currently , it is impossible for her to transfer that save, she would have to start again :-( Yay Nintendo, thank's for being awesome.... :-(

Bloody hell.

might be easier for me to transfer my profile and all games/saves to a new switch instead then.

If she transfers her profile I think it will transfer her save. AC doesn’t cloud save, but I think it would transfer with the whole profile wouldn’t it?

EDIT Apparently not!

"This game does not currently support the ability to transfer your save file from one Nintendo Switch console to another. However, a function specific to Animal Crossing: New Horizons to move users and save data to another console is planned for later this year."

Yep, but don't worry, at least it makes it slightly harder for someone you've never heard of to cheat on an island you'll never see!
