This is going to be absolutely brilliant, I'll gladly pay the family version expansion price.

Base version will always be kept for Tetris99.

Expansion is going to be great for Sin & Punishment / Starfox64 / SoR2 / Contra : Hard Corps / Castlevania Bloodlines / Gunstar Heroes on the handheld.

F-Zero X in the future too. Very happy.

Do yourself a favour and nail that Castelvania Anniversary collection from the current sale!

THIS. It's simply essential at that price. I may never even load it, or the Contra one, but at £4 each? You'd be mad not to grab it for the time you eventually feel like playing one of them.

Frankly £12 for those 2 and the lesser Arcade Collection combined is outstanding.

So it's 5$ (not sure about the UK pricing) for the N64/Genesis games & $25 for the Animal Crossing DLC with no option not to have the DLC?

I was on the fence about the DLC but I guess i'll go for it.  I'm very curious now what happens when it comes time to renew.  Are they going to offer something else worth $25 or are you just going to be locked into the higher tier with no option to downgrade?

I would snap this up if the majority of the price didn’t include dlc for a game I have zero interest in.

Although I’d probably never play the games anyway, but it would be nice to have the option!

I love when out of touch people try to justify the price of something by referring to Starbucks.

Eg:

Do these people not know Starbucks is widely considered an extremely overpriced product for people with more money than time or sense? It's not some super-cheap commodity.

Ymmv naturally, but having put thousands of hours into PD on the N64, the 360 version gave it much more fluidity.

I dunno. Instantly being able to jam in that perfect strafe angle with the N64 octogate, as opposed to having to feel for it with the 360 certainly has its advantages when breaking into sprint left or right. The digital rigidity of the vertical aiming also works well within the limited res. The 360 version line-skips to compensate, so it’s like playing a HD game bottlenecked by the same SD restrictions.

I’d love a new HD follow-up. It’s absolutely criminal how nothing’s been done since. I tried starting to make my own in Unity purely out of desperation before realising I’m not a developer.

I mean I’ve no idea who Tim Gettys is, but, yes, VC games were $10 each but you owned them outright and could pick and choose which ones you wanted without having to service a rolling yearly contract to  carry on playing them.

The thing which Tim and others doesn’t seem to get is that the expense of it is relative to what the other guys are offering and that’s what makes it look expensive as Sony and MS have a better value proposition.

Also, most of the people on the family plan aren’t paying anything and they’re also not drinking Starbucks because they’re like 9 years old.

Tim is clearly a dickhead, but let’s be honest, is anyone here not going to subscribe because of the price hike?

I won’t. I only pay the current sub out of habit and the fact it’s peanuts, I’m not going to shell out 50 bones for essentially the same thing.

If I desperately wanted to play N64 games I already played 20 years ago it might be different.

I hadn't realised that the expansion pack is only available as a 12 month option. I had just assumed it was going to work like the current setup where you have the option of signing up for a shorter period of time.

I suppose that's the smart option from their perspective if they are going to be adding stuff like DLC to the service.

It’s £35 for the enhanced sub, isn’t it?

With regards the online expansion pack. In the grand scheme of things £35 isn't bad for what's on offer. I can see new Switch owners and new people to Nintendo getting value out of the package. However I think if you've been around gaming a while its a different proposition. What amazes me is how Nintendo can keep releasing the same things over and over in different guises. Got to give them credit for that! :D

I guess well designed and crafted art should be kept on modern platforms. Shame they don't give options to enhance the visuals a bit and give them a brush of paint to sweeten the deal really. N64 graphics will look pretty dated these days. Although Mario 64 still has a certain charm about it TBH.
