I’d love a proper remake of OoT, not just an upscale. For me (and I’m sure many others) it’s still the flagship Zelda title. Nintendo don’t really do remasters of that scale, though. They just re-release the same game over and over and over again and we lap it up like the idiots we are.

Well OoT 3D was a proper remaster don’t forgot with redone character models, textures and many QoL improvements too.

I find the inclusion of the New Horizons DLC oddly confusing. I can only assume they're doing it to sell the sub to a more modern audience, but it just feels really untidy.

It’s a bizarre and therefore very Nintendo thing to do.

Hopefully never.

Stream gaming is likely to be shite in the home for a long while yet.  On a portable?

Keeping your cloud saves for the games they decide they will.

Which is no for the 2 I'd consider most important.

Which two?

I resisted the temptation to buy the N64 pad. I bought the SNES controller and never use it because the Pro controller much more comfortable. There's also nothing that interests me in the N64 games offered until Paper Marion is released.

If there is nothing that interests you then that’s fair enough.

Plenty of the best N64 games used all 6 face buttons though (especially ISS, Goldeneye and PD) so assuming they come out on the service it’ll be a necessary cost. I’ve tried emulation via 4 face button controllers/right joystick emulating buttons and it stinks.

I just want to buy the N64 games separately.

Also seems like wishful thinking to hope that the N64 pad would be compatible with a Bluetooth dongle for an actual N64. I'll bet there's no way it works with a memory card.

hoping retrobit or 8bitdo do one, wouldn't be that unrealistic

Are those official Nintendo Controllers “open”?

Never bothered with the S/NES ones as I had an 8bitdo version that works with my PC and everything else too.

they're just USB C and bluetooth. I think they just sync regularly? I haven't tried it cos I have an 8bitdo SNES pad but when the N64 one comes I'll give it a go.

They work. I played through most of Chrono Trigger with a Switch SNES pad and an 8BitDo Bluetooth dongle plugged into a real SNES recently. The 8BitDo 2.4G SF30 was better for this use case in the end but it's still possible.

Excellent. Here’s hoping they maintain compatibility with future Nintendo consoles too.

Perfect Dark plays much better on the 360 than it did on the N64, using a standard controller.

This is going to be absolutely brilliant, I'll gladly pay the family version expansion price.

Base version will always be kept for Tetris99.

Expansion is going to be great for Sin & Punishment / Starfox64 / SoR2 / Contra : Hard Corps / Castlevania Bloodlines / Gunstar Heroes on the handheld.

F-Zero X in the future too. Very happy.

Do yourself a favour and nail that Castelvania Anniversary collection from the current sale!

THIS. It's simply essential at that price. I may never even load it, or the Contra one, but at £4 each? You'd be mad not to grab it for the time you eventually feel like playing one of them.

Frankly £12 for those 2 and the lesser Arcade Collection combined is outstanding.

So it's 5$ (not sure about the UK pricing) for the N64/Genesis games & $25 for the Animal Crossing DLC with no option not to have the DLC?

I was on the fence about the DLC but I guess i'll go for it.  I'm very curious now what happens when it comes time to renew.  Are they going to offer something else worth $25 or are you just going to be locked into the higher tier with no option to downgrade?

I would snap this up if the majority of the price didn’t include dlc for a game I have zero interest in.

Although I’d probably never play the games anyway, but it would be nice to have the option!

I love when out of touch people try to justify the price of something by referring to Starbucks.

Eg:

Do these people not know Starbucks is widely considered an extremely overpriced product for people with more money than time or sense? It's not some super-cheap commodity.

Ymmv naturally, but having put thousands of hours into PD on the N64, the 360 version gave it much more fluidity.

I dunno. Instantly being able to jam in that perfect strafe angle with the N64 octogate, as opposed to having to feel for it with the 360 certainly has its advantages when breaking into sprint left or right. The digital rigidity of the vertical aiming also works well within the limited res. The 360 version line-skips to compensate, so it’s like playing a HD game bottlenecked by the same SD restrictions.

I’d love a new HD follow-up. It’s absolutely criminal how nothing’s been done since. I tried starting to make my own in Unity purely out of desperation before realising I’m not a developer.

I mean I’ve no idea who Tim Gettys is, but, yes, VC games were $10 each but you owned them outright and could pick and choose which ones you wanted without having to service a rolling yearly contract to  carry on playing them.

The thing which Tim and others doesn’t seem to get is that the expense of it is relative to what the other guys are offering and that’s what makes it look expensive as Sony and MS have a better value proposition.

Also, most of the people on the family plan aren’t paying anything and they’re also not drinking Starbucks because they’re like 9 years old.
