Azrael
In a year's time they'll release their next Animal Crossing paid DLC and include that just in time for everyone that needs to renew again.

The system on the Switch generally doesn’t work reliably enough for what you describe. Most of the time when I’ve tried the saves are out of sync and need manually prodding anyway. I did this yesterday with the app, on two Switchs, running simultaneously. Kind of bizarre. But yeah, that is definitely not what most people understand cloud saves to mean. Fry Crayola
Claiming it's really only a fiver for the N64 and MD stuff is a bit much, when there's no option to not have the DLC for a game I neither own nor want. It's £35 for the pack. Want any one specific part of it? £35. That's your option. None of it is £5. While I'll probably move up to the higher tier at some point, I'll not be in any rush.

Another reason not to pay for it. Microsoft's system is seamless, Sony's isn't but is at least getting better and doesn't lecture you that you're history's greatest monster if you're using it and your old switch isn't under a truck.

Jarik
I want the N64 & Genesis games & I want the Animal Crossing DLC so it works for me, but I understand that it doesn't work for someone who doesn't want all those things.
Dudley
Popular though it is, it's a little strange to tie so much of the value of your service into one single game, especially one that's now 18 months old.
ZOK
It kind of suggests the N64 games are pretty much worthless. And they are, in that they should be shovelling them to us for free for paying to put up with the shitty service in the first place, like they do with the NES & SNES stuff. Jarik
I think licensing might be a major part of it. What did Nintendo have to agree to to get Banjo-Kazooie, a game without which the service would be much less worthwhile? Could they possibly manage Goldeneye under a similar sort of deal? ZOK
Forget everything else, just stick Perfect Dark on it and charge me a fiver a year, and I’d have no complaints at all.
Stanley
Perfect Dark is Rare isn’t it, no chance of that happening.
ZOK
There’s no chance of them putting it out on its own for a fiver a year either - but that’s what I want them to do!
Stanley
I’d really like to see Body Harvest, although that game needs an overhaul of its save system, it’s bastard hard.
ZOK
The trouble with Body Harvest is that it is so sluggish - we put up with it at the time because it was so unique, but I don’t think we’d forgive that today.

Stanley
This is the problem isn’t it, nostalgia. F-Zero X is still brilliant and worth playing, but Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask; there are better versions out there from Nintendo themselves, and bar dipping in for a bit of nostalgia I can’t see myself putting much time into Mario Kart 64 when Mario Kart 8 exists. I used to love Pilot Wings 64 but how it holds up these days I’ve no idea, same with Wave Rave. Hopefully the catalogue will be expanded and we get stuff like Bangaio, but overall I don’t think the N64 is anywhere near as good as the SNES, Castlevania is crap, there’s no Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, no Metroid, etc.

Then I sell it for not much less than I paid for it. Sometimes I’ll replace it with the digital version if I decide it’s something I’ll want to keep forever (I did this with Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild), and I’ll usually wait until it’s on sale.

Mr Do 71
I loved Diddy Kong Racing, but I bet the framerate will be painful. Plus I always wished the karts etc… were faster. Mario Kart 64 was awful. The tracks felt like they went on forever, and who thought that having to wait for a train to pass was a good idea.

That’s good to hear I look forward to that one. Don’t get me wrong I can’t wait to play these games, but their pricing model with bits of DLC added in, and no clear path forward, is all out of whack. drmick
I don't understand why both new tiers are double the lower tier. Shouldn't it be the previous tier PLUS £18 for the two new tiers?
Fry Crayola
There's only one new tier. Unless you're talking about family and solo subscriptions?
