Banjo-Kazooie is fucking mental.

I mean, I played it years ago when it first came out, but I forgot.

Every moment of the game is pure carnage and I have no idea how much crack the Rare office was smoking, but it's mayhem from the second you turn the thing on. Every sound effect is turned up to 11. It's like someone told a classroom of 5 year olds with musical instruments to "make the sound you think a feather would make" and then they all pick up a recorder and play their own interpretation of this instruction at the same time and then THAT'S WHAT THEY PUT IN THE GAME. Want to pick up a metal skull head so that Mumbo Jumbo can turn you into a termite? No problem, here's a slightly off colour shaman chanting noise, AND THEN THE DAMN OBJECT TALKS TO YOU IN ITS OWN VOICE TO TELL YOU HOW TO USE IT. I had to turn the brightness down on the TV because the colour palette is brutal. It has to be the closest thing on earth that's opposite a sensory deprivation tank.

It's god damn magical.

It has one of the all time greatest musical scores commited to cartridge too. Great game.

Some massive games coming to your switch online!!!!!!!!

No, not Chrono Trigger.
No, not Terranigma.

No, not Bionic Commando.

We have instead been blessed with Congos Capers! Rival Turf! And finally, the one we have been waiting for… Pinball! The day has finally arrived!!! Thanks Nintendo.

Can’t see a topic title for Mario Strikers. Downloaded the demo and liked what I’ve played, at the worst it’s the first fun football game I’ve played since the Xbox/GC/PS2 years. Shame there’s no single game available on the demo, playing the training and there’s a lot to it, hoping it doesn’t get too fiddly in a match but there’s a lot to master, also hoping those charge shots don’t come with a cut scene every time as that would get boring fast. Love the arcade football vibes, just being as much or a brawl or battle match as a football game, and love being able to just fly kick Yoshi off the ball 😂 and the little animations, such as the characters running around on fire from a bomb or being caught in the path of a flaming power shot. Might be day one here.

There still seems no solid info on if Strikers actually includes a single player, which would kinda rule it out for me. Especially given we're so near to its release. It would be such a shame if it doesn't, it looks like a lot of work has gone into it. The premise, football crossed with Speedball looks right up my street.

I'll be astonished if it doesn't.

That will definitely rule it out for me.

I wonder when the embargo is for the review? I can't remember if Nintendo plays the 'lift the embargo early, if the title is a sure fire hit' game or not?

It's great that it's on the NSO service, however it really deserves to be played on the Xbox.

EDIT: Yes - 45.33m physical copies. No figures for digital.

Crikey. Everyone else I know with a Switch, other than just one person, has purchased MK8D digitally.

Where’s our Summer Direct Nintendo ffs :quote:

Each day that passes without one means the likelihood of it's announcement goes up. :)

Something that concerns me a little about Nintendo nowadays though is that IMO the Pandemic hit their internal development a lot harder than it did other developers as they were very traditional and office-focussed in that respect.  I don't have anything to back that up, it's just a feeling I get that they were flying so high with the Switch then everything seemed to stall.

If I'm right, I hope they've gotten over that now and the next Direct has some real juicy goodies lined up.

I'm 50/50 on Mario football. It looks fun and i'm always on the look out for multiplayer games BUT the past few sports games I bought i've barely touched (Switch Sports, Mario Golf) so i may just hold out for a while longer.

Has anyone played Spirit of the North on the Switch? Is it worth a playthrough? I see it's only 8 quid on the eshop. Although i'd probably end up going for the PC version.

Nintendo games are usually the Wednesday before release.

Managed to nab Mario Strikers for sub-£40, so that's my June gaming purchase.

Really liked the online demo tutorial thing (though it did get a bit crazy when power-ups got introduced) and the idea of 8 player local MP is great!!

They took some of the rough edges off for the 360 version plus it runs at a higher resolution, has wide-screen support, better draw distance, better camera control on the right stick and a few other touch ups.

It's certainly the definitive version, but being able to play it portably on that gorgeous OLED screen isn't to be sneezed at either.
