I thought was a Switch version of the Nintendo version of Puzzle and Dragons.

On closer inspection I was disappointed to find it wasn't.

Is the Nintendo version only on the (3)DS?

...it is a switch version of Puzzle and Dragons?

Wasn't there a Mario version of P&D?

I thought this might have been a Switch port of that.

I am also aware that I have failed reading comprehension here.

Yeah that was on 3ds. This is a cheap yet IAP riddled version. It's worth a quid.

I don't think the Switch version has any IAPs.

I'm sure it does. It's got gacha shit.

Yeah, but you unlock credits for them by playing the game, not by paying for them. Could be wrong but that’s what I read.

You definitely unlock shit as you play but then there's this. There's like 5 or 6 machines all with the same options that give different shit,

That's why I was hoping for the Mario edition as I'm pretty sure I read yonks ago that the 3ds version didn't have microtransactions.

Although it might have been @deKaywho said that

🤷‍♂️

It doesn’t, but it was also £30.

I still get confused with this stuff so can someone help please?

We have a regular and a Lite Switch. The Lite (my daughter's) is set to the main one after following advice on here. I've just paid for a couple of digital games - will they be downloaded to both (I'm at work so can't check!) - and how is progress saved across them? If my daughter plays on her Switch on her profile, can she then pick it up later on the regular Switch?

Nope. She can only play on the main one assigned as your home console whereas YOU will be able to play on both consoles.

Keeping the Switch OLED has been one of my better decisions lately.

It really is magnificent. So much so, my Steam deck is sitting quite lonely some days.

I think replaying certain titles on it is revolutionary. Odyssey on it is a damn dream, but the most impressive game has to be Paper Mario Origami King. It just flipping pops!!!

I have yet to double dip and get SoR4, but I get the feeling it will be eye meltingly good on this display. I will probably go physical though as I just love physical Nintendo games.

Awesome, and yeah in typical Nintendo fashion it’s become the de facto console for collecting physical versions of games, so much so that even regular editions of certain titles can fetch a high price.

Hmm, we're trying to load up BOTW but it's seemigly ignoring our save data and trying to start a new game.

Has anyone else had this? I hope our save data hasn't gone corrupt or something. Both profiles still show up within the system's data management screen.

Also, where has the BOTW thread gone?

Using the steam deck makes me appreciate just how awesome the switch oled screen it and how light the system is. I like using the steam deck but it has so many of the problems that pc gaming does, but I guess it is just a pc at heart really. It’s mostly a Nintendo and Mame emulation machine for me now, plus a select few DC and PS1 games.

My save data is ok. It’s backed up to the cloud these days isn’t it? You can check under settings > data management > save data cloud.

Yeah, it definitely isn’t ‘the Switch for PC games’ or whatever, as there’s far too much fucking around involved. That is good though, because it excels at things you can never use a Switch for (like playing N64 games without the stupid bezel).

But yeah, the screen on the OLED is astonishingly good. It’s so good I think I’ll still buy multi-platform titles on the Switch.

I definitely find the Steam Deck easier to hold for longer. The weight isn’t an issue and the ergonomics are better for my hands.

Going back to the OLED after a long time off did remind me of how good the screen is, though.

I love to tinker which is why the Steam Deck is a treat for me. I have my OG switch for tinkering too, but the SD is just next level tinkerers paradise.

I have spent 10s of hours just battery optimising the SD, which is incredible.

But the screen on this Switch is truly mind blowing. Again, Paper Mario is just berserk on this thing. It makes me pray for a TYD remake or even re release.

Just double dipped Sheets of Rage 4 and my eyes are bleeding it's that damn nice on it. Love the haptic stuff too.

Both my kids want to save up birthday/christmas money for an OLED switch, which would take us to a 4 household  They've spent chores money on cheap Xbox games or DLC before, but my son is just about to finish saving for his first ever retail game - Hyrule Warriors, off the back of beating BOTW recently.

Age of calamity is great - I'm sure he will love it after beating BOTW. Massive game too.

Heh no issues here since the eldest and myself both upgraded to an OLED we are currently a six Switch household.

I'd offload the surplus two but the eldest's previous machine is clearly wheezing its way to an early grave yard and from the sound of the fan on the youngest's Switch lite it maybe not long for this world so I'm holding onto my 2nd gen battery machine to take over when it finally gives up the ghost.

Right.  Big sale has started and Mario 3D world is finally 33 quid. As is Party, Aces, Bros U, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Wario Ware is down to about 27 quid and Monster Hunter Generations is like 13 quid or summat. Have a dig.

Cross post because having 2 threads to discuss switch and its games is still a dumb idea, idgaf what you say. Don't @ me, as the kids would have it.

Evening Switch experts.

I've just picked up a Switch Lite in Trading as an end of (a frankly awesome) school year treat for my 6yo and need some games advice.

He is pretty good at gaming now and has completed most of The Lego games, New Super Lucky's Tale, Astro and various Game Pass things on my PS5/XBox One. However he is obviously still learning the ropes.

I'm trying to pick out what to get from the first party Nintendo catalogue as I've never owned a Nintendo before (Sega boy) so know very little about them.

What would you recommend for that sort of age/ability?

Gut feel was probably Mario Kart 8 Deluxe but I wasn't sure where else to go.

I'll probably buy Breath of the Wild for myself ;)
