Has anyone tried one of those out? I'm surprised that they are able to set it up to mimic the official N64 controller so you don't need to go remapping controls in the Switch OS.

Not as authentic as the official pad but at least this one seems to be available on Amazon US anyway.

The GB and GBA selections on NSO are a bit hit and miss right now.

So can those of you who know a lot more about their respective libraries tell me what you’re hoping to see? Both from a realistic point of view and pipe dreams.

(Also is there any way to hide the duplicates in the selection? I don’t really need to have the US release and multilanguage EU version next to each other.)

Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion, stone cold classics both of them.

Would love to see Metal Gear Ghost Babel, I used to own it and it costs a fortune now.

One I would really, really love to see is Rebelstar Tactical Command for the GBA, by Julian Gollop, great little TBA game. Bit obscure or unlikely though you never know.

Revenge of The Gator on GB would be nice, great pinball game.

Advance Wars, can’t see that happening with the remake though, but it should be there.

FF Tactics. I love the GBA version which is different from the PS one, the one that gets ported everywhere now.

Golden Sun, the first two GBA games, nice little RPG’s.

All the Castlevanias.

Boktai, but imagine how expensive and unavailable the sun gauge thing would be on the store.

The Advance Collection means the Castlevanias will never come to the service and I think the Pixel Remasters will stop the Final Fantasy Advance titles appearing as well. I’d like to see the Sonic Advance games, Chu Chu Rocket and Tactics Oger Knights of Lodis.

In the app settings you can choose to show North American and European releases, or just North American. I don't know why you can't select European only.

The first game was confirmed in the Direct.

Problem with the Sonic Advance games might be that THQ published them in the US.

I always thought of the Gameboy and the GB Color as essentially the same system, only colourised in the latter case, but it’s processor was actually twice as fast as the originals’.

What ones are the misses in your view?

It’s a pretty good line up so far.

TBF misses is probably harsh, it just seems like an odd cross section.

Mario Advance 4 is the THIRD version of SMB3 on the service.

AITD is like a tech demo.

Game and Watch Gallery 3: why start with the third?

It felt like when they did the other systems they put many of the most iconic games on there first. Some of these seem like they’ve been pulled out of a hat.

I think that choice in particular shows some good curation going on, as it’s a bit of a deep cut with the e-Card reader levels and was about to be lost with the WiiU shop closure. AITD is also a pretty interesting pick too as @Alex W. mentioned.

Not sure about Game and Watch Gallery 3, I get what you mean there. I figured they skipped straight to Mario Land 2 as 1 is thought to be a bit shit, is it maybe the same thing with that series?

The GBA version of that is all about the 38 additional JPN exclusive e-card reader levels that nocunt in the west got to play at the time. They mix up mechanics from all the 2D Mario’s within a predominantly SMB3 style structure. It’s a great choice, and it’s only on there because dickheads like me recently paid good money for it on the Wii U eShop before it shuts because it was supposedly the last time anyone would be able to access them <_<

OK, I rescind my Mario Advance 4 comment. I was totally overlooking that.

I think Mario Land should’ve been in this first batch because it’s a fun, weird Mario game not made by the usual team. But not as good as what came after. It’s also an important piece of Game Boy history.

To me, not a G&W aficionado, the Gallery compilations all look about the same quality. At the time surely they felt they were putting the best ones in the first collection? They had no way of knowing there would be enough interest to sustain a series.

And yes AITD is interesting from a certain perspective but if we’d spent all week debating what could and should be on the service I bet none of us would’ve suggested it.

Also I wish that Nintendo would release at least one game for the service each week. I’d also like it to be a total surprise. Like ‘Ok, it’s Monday let’s see what appears at 3pm’ or whatever. Rather than dumping a load on us every few months.

I may be in the minority there.

I adore Super Mario Land and it’s a distinctive quirky take on Mario that hasn’t been seen since. It was my first Mario game which probably adds to the nostalgia.

As I remember back in the day Mario Land 2 was seen as a bit of a disappointment and far too easy but it’s probably been more than 30 years since I actually played it.

There’s a huge difficulty spike in Wario’s castle.  Apart from that, it isn’t very difficult.  Personally I prefer the first game, although that might be because there were fewer other high quality titles in the GameBoy’s early days.  I never had an NES so I hadn’t played SMB 2 or 3 and was surprised in SML 2 that it was now possible to go back.  I was used to the “can’t go left” ways of the original.

I actually really like sml2, it's pretty short if you know what you are doing.

Totally agree on the wario final level.

Anyway this was the leaked list of gba games from a year or so ago. Castlevania seems odd though since it's already in a castlevania pack but it looks pretty legit.

Super Mario Bros 3 is the best Mario game ever made. Super Mario Advance 4, however, is damn near unplayable because of the stupid voice effects they added. I had it for GBA back in the day and eventually just sold it because I couldn’t face playing it. God bless Charles Martinet, by all accounts he’s a lovely man but Not Like This.

I’ve not used the Switch much at all recently, but I’ve just got back into it, first with Skyward Sword and now Metroid Prime. Both of my sets of Joycons have got drift, which I might get around to sorting at some point.

I’ve been eyeing up the Hori Split Pad Pro, which comes highly recommended from here, but before I buy one I was wondering if anyone has any alternatives that also have the gyro in them (thinking ahead to TOTK)? I’ve got a Pro controller for TV play so I’m not bothered about being able to use them outside of handheld mode.

There’s a new and improved version called the Hori split pad compact

I have the Binbok ones which are similar to the Hori’s but have gyro and rumble (and can be used detached) and are pretty good

Don’t seem to be available on Amazon currently though.

The fan on my OG Switch is now very loud very often. I did try spraying compressed air into the fan holes but no dust came out and it’s made no difference.

Any suggestions?

Aside from using this as a perfect excuse to buy an OLED version, I have no clue I'm afraid :(

Back off, whip the cooler off the CPU, get the old thermal paste off and apply some nice new stuff, wont hurt for sure.

@ZOK I’ll be interested to hear what you think. I’m playing it right now and while I can play it, it feels wrong - like when you’d play an old DOS game on a much newer system and it’d make it run too fast, or something. It just feels wrong to me, like the timing is out making it unstable.

FWIW running on a Sony A80K OLED with all the motion stuff etc off, game mode.

I had a go last night and I found it fine, I couldn't really tell any difference. Highest ranking I managed was 8th place though...mind you, that was because I'd forgotten to turn off my Goldeneye control profile so the sticks were back to front, and I couldn't work out the fine controls. Having said that, having to stretch my left thumb over to the right stick on the pro controller gave it a bit of an N64 pad feel!

I only played a bit though, I gave Pilotwings a look and that's were I stayed.
