I'm not going to stay up/wake up for the presentation as it will no doubt be another cringefest. Not really looking forward to going through 40 pages of new posts in this thread on Friday morning though, with about 80% of them of the 'My stream is broken! Is there another place where I can watch?' and 'Yes!'or 'EA executive now...'. kind.

I will be getting up on Friday morning for the presentation as I have Friday off. I sort of booked it off specifically for the presentation, but mostly because I had a ton of holidays to take so have booked off every Friday until the end of March.

I for one can't wait.

To be fair, that's from October last year but who knows... WE MIGHT SEE A NEW FRANCHISE FROM NINTENDO AT THE PRESENTATION WHICH IS MEGATON!

We've had a new franchise from Nintendo on every other console they've made, so it's kind of expected...

The few things I've played online with my Wii u have worked flawlessly, I think it's more to do with the relatively clunky interface and behind-the-scenes stuff which, whilst functional, isn't particularly elegant. Many people just expect to see a similarly styled social hub style thing that they're used to with Xbox and PlayStation, where it's all about friends lists, sharing stuff, communities and so on. Nintendo sort of do this, but not to the arbitrary "standard" people expect.

Rather have Wii U level online support for free than PSN!? Are you high?

No, I'd agree. I've never had an issue on either the 3DS or the WiiU online. I know it's probably just down to the smaller userbase, but it's still been easier than PSN.

I think that it's more likely they are risk averse - they don't want to have unsold inventory, they'd rather undersell.  The opposite philosophy to Sega or Ubisoft, who over-produce and then see the value of products tumbling after a very short time.

After the Wii U component glut they had, you can hardly blame them if they decided to err on the side of caution this time around, if the product turns out to be hot, having demand which only you can fulfill with your USP product is better than warehouses full of dead money tied up. It's not as if people can easily buy a direct substitute product for what the Switch should be offering.

I played a tonne of Mario Kart and Splatoon online, pretty much trouble free (if you don't count the insane Japanese Splatoon ninja rollers and their skillz), and never paid a penny. Guess I'd be a mental high nutcase to want to do the same again?

I can see that for some people it's all about the additional community aspects, but I'd happily go without them once again to keep it free. I'd actually be a bit upset if I had to start paying just to have them added to the mix.
