Right. Here's what I think. I've given this a lot of thoughtm

I think grey is the way to go. Hear me out. Sure the coloured ones look cool but let's face it, Nintendo are gonna make all sorts of colours and you're gonna want them all. You start of coloured and you're not gonna want a grey one down the line when they bust out teal ones. But just like having a black suit ready for a funeral. It's important to have an understated set of Joycons for playing at the wake. So grey.

I know it makes sense, but i seem to like making strange decisions and then regretting them. I wish there was no option and just one colour :(

Can't argue with that logic. SOLD!

You're a stand up guy but you are so wrong on this one, think of the Wii remotes (and Wii U of course) and while white is the right colour for the console no one was standard remotes - we ave loads of the bloody things but its always a race to get the luigi green one or the mario red one - the yoshi one is like getting a power up star!

No one wants to play on a white controller, you've basically got a wheelsman start if you're too slow to get a coloured one.

Because its nothing like a PS4, why do you roll this drivel out every time - we get it, you never play games out of the house and have a telly and ps4 in every room and live on your own so have no other demands on the use of the main telly so you can't see any possible use of the switch and its more important to be more powerful than the ps4 and xboxne combined and cost less and have the same games and cost less blah blah blah

Most people who want a PS4 have one, or are getting one, it's several years old now.

Some people want a new Nintendo machine, the machine Nintendo are releasing is for them and hopefully others will join in as well, it lets you play your game on the telly and then carry on when you are on the move, it's a fucking awesome idea and more than likely will do very well with Nintendo's portable market, it might take some time for it to trickle down for younger users due to it's percieved high price by some, but from the pool of parents I know, £280 plus games is perfectly acceptable for their childrens birthday / Christmas presents, a lot of people are quite content to try and buy their childrens love an happyness, or just some peace and quiet.

If it does do well, the 3DS line will be quietly left to die and all development WILL end up on the Switch, if it doesn't, well, Nintendo are hardly going to leave the handheld market without another throw of the dice, and of course, games are still coming out for it as it has a fairly decent instal base of 65 million consoles to sell to, MS and Sony kept the PS360 era going for a while after releasing the current gen before kiling them off, Nintendo should be alowed to do the same, I mean how long did the NES system get produced? Ran from 1983 till 2003 in Japan, that's a fifth of a centuary, and in that time they released the gameboy, GB pocket, Light, Color, Advance, Virtual Boy ( yeah, I know, but it's still another system :P ) Snes, N64 and the Gamecube, just because they have older hardware still available, doesn't mean they have to make games for it, just knock it out cheaper and cheaper and continue to sell the back catalogue.

You're saying that now because you had white ones from the get go. Say your Wii came with red and green ones. Can you honestly say you wouldn't pine for white ones. Be honest now. It's impossible to know.

In light of the weak Switch launch, 3DS is having a great 2017. Dragon Quest VIII just came out, Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World arrives tomorrow, Mario Sports Superstars comes out a week after Switch and there's another Fire Emblem to come.

Can't help but think that MSS in particular should have been on Switch instead/as well.

And you must keep in mind that while grey may sound boring they'll often be attached to the fantastically vibrant screen and that screen will be ON. Think, you're playing Splatoon 2 at a pool party. All that colour on the screen rendered at a flawless 720p. Could you actually handle anymore colour?? Be honest.

I'm buying two grey ones as you make so much sense.

Exactly.

This is one thing us UI/UX folk always consider when designing an e-Commerce front-end. The colour/vibrance focus MUST be on the product that the client is trying to shift, and not on your buttons and menus.

I went for the Neon variant because I always regret not getting the funky alternatives. Hopefully I can change my mind when I go to collect my console.

How many of you guys are buying pro controllers? The dock for the joycons looks uncomfortable (buttons too close) but i think i'm going to hold fire until i try it.

I've got Zelda ordered from two places. Whichever one arrives last will be taken back and exchanged for a pro controller.

The default config looks good enough so far for me, plus I'll be playing in fully detached mode most of the time as I like my arms down by my sides, or one arm on my sofa rest.

I kinda am, I have £66 loaded onto my Game wallet for one but you can't fucking pre order and pay with that FFS - part of my Switch plan is to not spend actual cash on anything so I've had a good old clear out of games stuff and have the Switch and this credit paid for - I guess I will have to go into Game on launch day to get one :(

Is Yoshis wooly world any different to the WiiU version? May have to double dip. Very underrated game.

Not sure, sorry. Although there's some really fucking nice stage design throughout YWW, isn't there? We're only up to world-2 so far because me and my wife are trying to 100% it.

That said it's great for playing with non-gamers, too. The graphics are an absolute work of art.

I think I'll do all my gaming with the joycons split, it's good for sprawling.  I'll probably get a second set for my niece/nephew and they can use the clip thing that comes with it, rather than a pro-pad.

Ninty need to market this as the ultimate 'shut those little fuckers up' tablet. Have it do youtube and internet shit and play movies and android mobile games aswell.

After lusting after a Neon Switch I'm not bothered now, I'm fine with my Grey pre-order. It's not like it's a one shot deal either. The coloured joycons can always be (expensively) picked up seperately, if you really want em.

I'm in the same frame of mind but it looks like the only sell the opposite neon joycons so it's only possible to make a full red/blue set buy buying the neon console.

Oh cases...

(as I do) I spend WAAAY too much time deciding which case to buy.

I wanted something that subtly suggested that I'm a geek that knows better (i.e, geek who gets Nintendo games).

Most of the available in the UK cases are dull.

I quite like the slightly cryptic (to those not in the know) Sheikah Eye of the US Zelda LE, but figure that'd be way too expensive.

There is a Link Tunic case, but it's very blue, and white isn't a good idea.

I'm not mad on MASSIVE logos, so don't like the Zelda one with links face on but do like the repeated pattern beside it.

The other 4 zelda ones (blue or black with outline of links face, or with outline of sheikah eye) were ok.

I opted for this one from Amazon.com:

https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Premium-Console-Case-Mario/dp/B01N4O0392/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485873197&sr=8-1&keywords=mario+switch+case

I'm sure it'll be available in the UK anyway, but money was burning a hole in my pocket, and I'm patient so ~£16 from Amazon.com it was :)

I can always buy another one if it's shit..

@FreemanI want to order this case but does it fit inside with the joycons attached?

Looks like it does, please ignore and ordered!
