No way will I be playing mine on the toilet. Advance Wars taught me that there's only so much loo roll can do with a crusty rectum. You end up wasting a lot more time with squatting down in the shower.

Wet wipes man, wet wipes.

So we now have various statements from prominent Nintendo executives leaving the door wide open to a true 3DS successor, but yet the 1 pillar meme just won't die, it's a certainly powerful alluring meme I'll grant you.

And the various statements from Tatsumi Kimishima, even in the official investor stuff.

People do realise they only ever merged the hardware design divisions into a single team? The iOS/Android development model is what you should have been expecting all along. There is a quote somewhere where somebody (probably Iwata) saying it was a lot of effort to port between home and portable and vice versa, going the iOS route solves that problem, it never meant they just unified the entire lot under one single bit of hardware.

Short and sweet from chris kohler:

So yes, we'll have more then one device that all play the exact same software. Something Iwata hinted at as a possible direction for Nintendo to go in around 2014.

I just wish I could dispose of my wife for a few days so that I can enjoy Zelda in peace. She knows I'm really looking forward to the game, so you can bet she'll be dancing in front of the TV during the opening moments and generally acting like a right annoying twat on purpose.

She sounds wonderful; you're a lucky guy!

So first Nintendo was genius because they merged their portable and home divisions so they could combine forces working for one target platform rather than fragmented markets, but now they are genius because there will be a dedicated handheld 3DS follow-up after all?

Make up your mind people.

U wot m8?

I haven't saw anyone coming to this conclusion, care to elaborate?

Also it is nothing but pure speculation and rumour surrounding a mistranslation.

Thing is Mushi and Napoleon know it.

They're not really stupid enough to think Nintendo should announce the Switch is gonna replace the 3DS, just as the 3DS enjoys a bit of a resurgence and before Nintendo know how the Switch will do. They know this. But the Switch (and it's gonna do great, believe me, go and preorder one) looks so good they've got no decent ammo to throw at it. The console looks great, the games look great. The fucking thing is a Home Dunk for Nintendo. A real SLAM RUN.

But I'll tell you what, if Nintendo DO make a successor to the 3DS which isn't the Switch then I'll buy that fucking thing too!!

I have no issue with it, Nintendo's main problem is that it had to support different architectures and they are no longer able to do this for games in the modern era. If they continue using arm for the 3DS and are also using arm for Switch, then this removes a lot of the work on their end, which means they can focus on games instead.

They also have an easy way to upsell and provider BC going forward now that they have moved on from the PowerPC era.

The 3DS replacement will be the current switch chip set and come out in a couple of years and will run all switch software which doesn't rely on the fancy joycon features.  At that point there'll also be a be a newer switch with a newer Tegra chip in it which will have enough grunt to support using the device for VR.  All "Switch" machines will run the same software.

All they need is to bring the price down of the Switch will they'll be able to do in a year or so if sells decently.

Yeah. I can TOTALLY see that happening. If there's one thing we know about Nintendo it's their willingness to reduce the price of their stuff.

Turn your chair around and face the wall, Pickford.

How could a machine without Joycons play 1,2 Switch??

Thanks, I'll pass it on to Seb and the team, being honest I've not been involved in it at all. It is quite different to play too, I can't think of anything else quite like it. Looks lovely on the hardware (I might have gone and snuck a go!).

Is it David wise doing the music? Certainly sounds very RARE 1990's style. In many ways the game seems like a bit of a love letter to them in its style. Looks good though and I'll certainly be picking it up!
