Only jesting. I'm a Welshman living in London...

But we don't live like rats in tiny flats and work for the rest of our lives like slaves to pay for them.

Do you even have room to swing the joycon?

Wasn't a general dig, was just pulling dekay's leg. Step down.

After 140 hours of Zelda almost entirely on the TV, it's really refreshing, almost relaxing, to use this entirely in handheld mode for Mario Kart. It's really sold the hardware for me now and if they could just release a left joycon with a d-pad replacing the buttons it'd be perfect.

It's pretty exciting to see it selling so well too. The third party support of the 3DS but with this lovely screen and comfortable controls would be amazing.

Third parties shouldn't be scared of pumping out similarly low budget titles as they did on past handhelds. Stuff like Etrian Odyssey and Phoenix Wright with virtually the same assets and art but in HD would work really well. Although, hmm, I'm not sure how they're going to solve the issue of substituting touch controls for TV mode.

If I had to buy a new one in a years time I wouldnt hesitate. I reckon it will have got more use in 12 months than any other console I've owned has in years.

I wonder if Nintendo will ever release the tablet portion of the console on its own? The Joy-Cons themselves are quite expensive to manufacture, right? Remove all the other pack ins, could end up being quite cheap I would've thought. I suspect if the Switch keeps its momentum, there's going to be plenty of demand to justify such things. I think a smaller, handheld-only version could be on the cards too.

I just got one this week, and got my copy of Zelda yesterday. First impressions are great, although ergonomically speaking I prefer playing with the joy-cons detached. When on the tablet itself, the (necessarily) narrow nature of the controllers means its awkward to switch from using the sticks to the buttons, where on a larger controller they would be aligned naturally with the thumb's rotation. When detached, you can shift the controllers around in your hand to compensate, so that's no longer an issue. Also when attached if you move the console around in your hands, they seem to wobble and creak slightly, apparently that's normal? It's also kind of heavy and large for a portable console. All will be forgiven when I'm murdering bokoblins on the bus I suspect.

Making each controller work on their own, along with the idiot-proof stand, is a stroke of genius. Played 4-way Mario Kart with two Switches in the office yesterday, was a bit mad with everyone crowding around the tiny consoles, but I can't think of anything else that could provide such an immediate and accessible multiplayer experience. I love that Nintendo have given us so many ways of using this thing and that they all actually make sense.

Yes, the whole multi-use nature and the joycons themselves could have been a gimmick but it isn't. I play hand held 90% of the time and it's great. When playing with the kids we dock it and it looks amazing. But the fact I can put it in table top mode for my daughter to play Just Dance somewhere else (anywhere else, please) in the house is also amazing.

And just spending £11 extra so the two standard joycons can fit in the steering wheels for family Mario Kart fun? Amazing!

That's been the revelation for me this weekend. Up until now it was a £400 expenditure (£300 console, £50 Zelda, £50 Pro) for a slightly more HD and stable Zelda (which i had on Wii-U, and was happy with). But since MK8D and its quick-burst gaming hook i've realised "oh yeah, it comes out the dock, its a legit handheld console". Not that i've taken it outdoors mind. lol! But still. Its a marvellous piece of kit.

Yeah, I found it took me a little while to get to grips with it as a handheld. Even playing it in tabletop mode, at first I couldn't get comfortable with a joycon in each hand but I've since found a way to hold them comfortably.

And being able to play Zelda wherever (though I prefer it on the TV by far) is great.

Played through the Snipperclips demo, some Puyo Puyo and MK8 in tabletop with my sister. It's pretty cool (probably fantastic on a flight) but a bit too small. 4 player split screen mario kart isn't a realistic prospect.

Bad news everyone. My Pro controller is broken.

It stopped working this evening. Won't connect to the Switch or anything. I think the magic inside has run out.

I bought my Pro Controller on April 8th, and despite being used every day since it is still indicating 100% charge on the Switch menu screen. I had thought you were exaggerating with how long yours had gone without needing another charge, but now I'm just worried that I've slipped into the same demi-dimension that you buy everything you own from and am therefore terrified that the same fate is going to befall my similarly-bewitched device. Hurry up and tell the universe you fixed it, ok?

I dunno. It just didn't feel as good to me, and I didn't find it fun at all. I also hated the fight with the hand things at the end of the single player. Properly shit.

You're not alone. The GameCube one is the best one by a country mile.

There are guides in the dock which slot it in, you shouldn't have to force it. It's normal for a bit of realignment before it naturally drops in.

Otherwise you're worrying too much. It's designed to take a fair bit of stress.

Apparently I had to find a "cable" and "plug it in". Now it mysteriously works again.

Re: The dock and general bending. I do get some push-back when I slot it into the dock. I assume that's normal?

Also, I am clutching the thing pretty hard when I'm concentrating, feels like I'm gently leaning my thumbs in as I play and pulling either side slightly towards myself. I wonder if this is how most people play and if over time that gaming posture can cause the plastic to bend in extreme cases.

There was a video where someone cut a tri-force out of the screen of a Switch with a high pressure water cutter. It carried on playing Fast RMX even when the whole first triangle was cut out, I think it can take a bit of bending :P
