Can't tell if you two are being serious..? It's obvious EA have spent considerable resources on this version this time. It hasn't been dumped out to a 'bit part team'. It looks decent, runs at 60fps docked and portable and includes all the gubbins save for this journey feature.

That may be the case, but EA themselves are literally putting it down and saying it's not as good as the other versions.

God help my relationship if they bring Fallout 3 to Switch....

Been thinking about this as well. What would be really amazing is when they do a double pack like Dragon Quest Heroes 1+2. Can you imagine Fallout 3+New Vegas on the same cartridge and portable. Oh my!

Eurogamer are so far up their own backsides it's unbelievable. I just watched a video and I think they hammered home that FIFA on Switch didn't look as good as the PS4/XBO version about 9 millions times. NO SHIT SHERLOCK, the fully portable version on the tiny Switch doesn't look as good as the full-fat PS4/XBO version. Who'd have thought it? Tell us how it plays, is it decent - but oh no, his main concern is that it's missing some lighting and some extra graphical trickery. Like he was somehow shocked the Switch version was anything apart from absolutely identical to the significantly more powerful console versions. All that is wrong with gaming today.

I mean get this:

So it plays well and feels responsive, but it's 'hamstrung' but the lack of Frostbite? Would it not be 'hamstrung' by using a different engine that might not have been a full 1080p 60fps then? Why does it even matter? Why are they so hung-up on the specific engine the game is using? It's a really odd way to approach the game IMO. They've said custom engine, so just accept that and judge on merit from that point.

I'm not sure if the video you watched was a digital foundry video but to be fair they focus on the differences between versions which has value if you were interested In the compromises they had to make for a the Switch version.   So I wouldn't get your knickers in a twist over it.

Regarding Skyrim, have they announced whether it runs at 60fps?  I fancy the motion controlled bow aiming but not so much the waggle strikes which I don't think are 1:1 motion control but more gesture based.

I'm really looking forward to Skyrim... even after putting in hours and hours before on the PS3.  There's still tons in that game I haven't seen or done and I could take a completely different path through it.  If the motion controls for aiming are done well, it could make a huge difference.  I always thought that aiming with the bow when under pressure in Skyrim was too janky, especially when zoomed right in.  PUMPED

I'd be in for this too if I hadn't bought the Xbox One re-release last year.  I haven't quite finished it yet after months and months of on / off play.  Had I been playing it on the Switch I would have probably nailed the whole thing in weeks.

Yeah - I didn't buy the re-release on PS4 because I knew it was coming on Switch.  When I played it on PS3 with limited gaming time and too many games to play, I really just focussed on the main quest.  There's so much more for me to do and see and I could quite easily spend a cathartic hour on the train just smithing.... whereas in the evening it felt like wasting game time.

So let's do a head count of E3 so far:

-FIFA 18 looks suprisingly decent, with an obvious bit of time being spent on developing the game.

-Skyrim on the Switch coming out with all the DLC included plus amiibo support and (optional) motion controls.

-Ubisoft announcing 2 games for the Switch, one exclusive and the other multiplatform alongside earlier announced games like Monopoly and Rayman Legends.

-Minecraft Switch getting feature parity with dedicated servers, super duper graphics, etc.

So far, western third party support is looking quite a bit more decent then on the 3DS and Wii U. With those two platforms we saw a very quick exodus from western developers which is not the case so far. Also, this is the first time in years i've seen games for Nintendo platforms being presented in third party conferences. Quite a nice change of pace.

They could do what the 'Tale of Two Wastelands' mod does and bridge both games into one. Imagine that.

Apologies in advance, I've not followed Switch stuff pretty much since launch. Are the hardware issues resolved (left pad antenna thing, switch warping in dock, screens scratching, etc), or were they sort of outlier stuff that didn't affect most people?

After watching the Sony conference, and having been previously convinced I'd get a Scorpio,I think I just need something different

If the rumors about Beyond Good and Evil 2 are to be believed, the Switch gets it exclusively for up to a year.

As for any hopes I might have about the Nintendo conference... give me Metroid Prime 4.  That's all, thanks.  (Oh and maybe a gamefreak pokemon game on Switch..)

Left joycon issues were definitely a thing for a lot of people, myself included; scratches and warped screens seem to be much more rare by comparison.

Has it been confirmed the super duper graphics are coming to the Switch?  The framerate takes a battering as it is with the normal graphics in certain circumstances.

Well, I think I'm sold, having watched the E3 conference just now. Try to find one in stock (heh) and it's all $430. I thought this machine was $300? Is everyone gouging because of poor availability?

Trying to find one here in the US is an event still. Target and Wal-Mart seem to get a few every weekend and sell out in moments.

Cheers, I think I'll periodically try brick and mortar stores then. At least Best Buy list it as $299, even if not in stock on their site. It's in stock on Amazon but $420 ish is taking the piss. That's a game and pro controller tagged on, without getting either.

I love love LOVE that trailer. The driving, serious music, intertitles forged from the fires of hell, and then 1:08 happens. Its. Just. Fucking. Sonic. Look at his them! Anthro cuddly animals! What the fuck is wrong with people
