Blurb from ABC's press release:

"THE MUPPETS"

The Muppets return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for "kids" of all ages.

Bill Prady ("The Big Bang Theory") and Bob Kushell ("Anger Management") are co-writers and executive producers. Randall Einhorn ("Wilfred"), Bill Barretta, Debbie McClellan and Kyle Laughlin are also executive producers. "The Muppets" is produced by ABC Studios and The Muppets Studio.

ABC has just uploaded the 10 minute pilot presentation (which is a shorter proof-of-concept pilot used in lieu of a full pilot to get the network to buy the show) to YouTube:

Sky 1 has picked up the UK rights to the show.

Hmm I dunno about this. It doesn't have the charm of the old series.. probably because of the more adult direction they're going in. It doesn't suit it imo. But then I have the baggage of the old series. Hey ho tho, I'm probably not the target demographic!

I'm in two minds about this! It started really well and I laughed quite a lot, but it felt like it needed a nice little song partway through, or something a bit more light-hearted. Overall the tone was a tad aggressive - which became a bit tiresome towards the end - and I can't imagine there was much for younger people to enjoy.

This started on Sky last night as well. I laughed enough times to merit sticking with it for another episode or two, seems like a very second-rate attempt at copying 30 Rock though. The plot of the first episode was really threadbare even by sitcom standards, and rather than building to a funny climax it just kind of petered out then stopped.

Maybe I've been spoilt by much funnier shows than this is trying to be - the style and premise made me subconsciously compare it to 30 rock, Parks and Rec and Curb, all of which is pretty unfair really.

Swedish Chef's delight is pretty great though.

loved loved loved this. The Elizabeth Banks plot fizzled out a bit but there was enough other stuff going on that it wasn't a problem. It's the little jokes that stand out the most, and anything involving Electric Mayhem.

I think you'll like this weeks.
