An easy win last night for Boro, we are so much better than the teams we've been playing but are making it hard for ourselves by overplaying it or making mistakes.

Brentford though, must absolutely hate us. We've beaten them 5 times in a row in the last 12 months alone.

You were poor against us at the iPro, scored your only chance and that came from a scuffed pass. Nearly nicked the win, though. I think Derby have taken a leaf out of Boro's book this season, we're certainly more focussed on not conceding. Less than 1 a game conceded and most of them have been deflected long shots. Shame about the goals scored column but we've got the players to change that.

WE WON A MATCH :omg:

Probably inevitable with Powell going back to Charlton, just hope we can follow it up even though it's hard to see where the goals are coming from. Supposedly we're trying to thrash out a deal with Shola Ameobi (don't laugh) which is probably about the best we can do with the window shut. He actually had a decent ratio in the Championship with Newcastle but he's getting on a bit now..

Second loss in the bounce for Cardiff after our goalie got himself sent off for kicking out at a Rotherham player before half time.

The nice measured response from Cardiff fans on our main message board is he should be stripped of the captaincy, made to publically apologise and we would have been better off selling him to West Brom last month.

You'd think we just lost to Swansea in the play-off final - not our first away game of the season in September!!

What can I say? I've been a Fulham season ticket holder for three years now and that was by far the best game I've seen. We smashed QPR 4-0 and looked completely in charge throughout.

I've lost my voice completely and at one point the fans nicked a stewards shoe. It's certainly the first time I've heard shouts of "shoes off if you love Fulham" amongst a sea of aloft footwear.

Anyway, it's nights like tonight that remind me why I'm a football fan and a fan of a championship club. Fuck supporting a team from afar that win trophies, I'll be at the cottage with my converse firmly in the air!

Wolves scrape a late draw against nine-man Preston. Completely embarrassing.

I have tickets for away at Fulham on Tuesday and I'm dreading it.

@bitterToad.

Great post mate, I'm convinced the championship is the most entertaining league in Britain.

Try not to enjoy Tuesday night too much.

We're totally inconsistent. If we're going to let Friday's performance slip it'll be against Wolves on a rainy Tuesday evening. I'll be at the game so at the very least one 'mukker will come away happy...

Boro again, I honestly can't see who's going to beat us at the top this season. With QPR underperforming and Derby stuttering, we must be red hot favourites and we aren't even playing to full capacity.

Well... Brighton? They're currently top if you hadn't noticed.

Nah. They'll do a Derby of last season.

At the moment we are the completely dominant team, best defence and best attack if you hadn't noticed. Brighton's bubble will burst at some point, the top two are already two games out of reach of the chasing pack.

Have you been to many games this season, smithstock?

I've saw every home game live and 3 away games on the box, the others I've listened to on the wireless. We aren't playing our absolute best football and have beaten decent Championship opponents 3-0 in our last two fixtures.

Fair enough, I just thought you were rubbish against us and I saw you had 40% possession at home to Leeds which I found a little odd considering your line-up. As the cliché goes, though, it's the sign of a good team to still be winning when not at your best and I certainly have you down as favourites for the title.

I reckon the low possession against Leeds came from the second half, we were pinned back for much of it but still managed to grab a goal. I know we won't win every single game but I think every Boro fan feels we should be winning everything, home or away.

I've saw two types of performances so far this season; one where we dominate possession but struggle to get the winner and another where we struggle to get to grips with the game but finish our chances clinically.

At first I didn't think we were as strong as last season but Nugent has been a revelation after a slow start, he's a pure fox who doesn't mind mixing it either.

The Reading v Middlesbrough game this Saturday should be a good one, I have not seen my brother so excited about watching Reading for a long time now and he is now finally enjoying watching them play after moaning constantly about them to me.

Even the season where Reading last got promoted they were pretty dire to watch, but Steve Clarke has them playing some nice football now, mainly thinks to the board finally putting some decent money in and improving a squad that has needed changing for many a season now.

What can I say? I've been a Fulham season ticket holder for three years now and that was by far the most bog standard Fulham performance I've seen. We got smashed by Wolves 3-0 who looked completely in charge throughout.

My voice is fine and the fans were pretty much silent throughout. The stewards weren't bothered at all.

Anyway, it's nights like tonight that remind me that I'm a football fan and a fan of a championship club. Rather than supporting a team from afar that win trophies, I'll be at the cottage walking out depressed at 80 minutes in.
How things change, eh?

I like Smithstock's confidence, but it's a long season and Boro have "done a Derby" before - Mowbray's last season in charge we were flying until Christmas. There was no way we wouldn't get automatic promotion. Then someone poisoned our Christmas dinner and we didn't even make the playoffs. I thought we'd do it last year too, but we stuttered near the end against promotion rivals and Watford just stormed up out of nowhere.

I've hardly seen anything of us this year, just getting to read match reports, but Fabbrini and Stuani sound like they've been great signings and certainly I'm much more confident than I was at the start of the season when I felt we were a lesser team than last year. Still though, can all change far too easily and quickly.

I'm on the tube now after a few more beers in the 8 bells.

I'm sorry it was a bad night for you bitter road, believe me, I totally sympathise.

I had a lot of fun tonight.

A well deserved win, mate. We were dreadful, especially after Friday, and Cairney let us down with a stupid challenge that far up the pitch. Your lot capitalised on us only having 10 and that was that. Could have been a good second half otherwise!
