EA completes the puzzle

Maybe they didn't like the game they were making and wanted to do a bit of Bond again.

So they came up with the unremarkable TimeSplitters while Rare made the wonderful, if technically over ambitious, PD? Where does that tell you the talent lies?

I can't remember if this is true but wasn't the core of PD finished before the Free Radical members fucked off. Then in about 9 months they made the best launch title for the west in Timesplitters then made the unfairly lambasted Timesplitters 2. Since PD, just how many FPS has Rare made again? I'm pretty sure Doak, Hilton and the other one were the core members of the GE team as well, weren't they?

Interesting. How about this then, say EA give Free Radical the Bond license to play with and they make Goldeneye 2 (wich would be multiplatform). Nintendo could allow them to spruce up Rare's Goldeneye game and have it as a bonus disc for GameCube.

I don't think they'd be allowed to do that. Feel free to correct me though.

I'm sure Rare made off with everything barring Nintendo IP when they were bought by MS.

I think Goldeneye is/was Nintendo's IP though, as they owned the lisence to make a Bond game and contracted Rare to make it for them, therefore the game is owned by Nintendo.

(I think)

Yes it does, it's just everyone has such fond memories of Goldeneye or just never played Perfect Dark that much or are just Bond whores.

Now you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger Bond whore than me, i really am all about the Bond but from my experience all of my real life buddies don't like Perfect Dark as much as Goldeneye due to them never really having played it. But they will still go on about how Goldeneye is better without having played both.

Except for the other 64 owner who actually finished Perfect Dark and agrees with me.

Me = Hate the James Bond character and love Goldeneye. Finished Perfect Dark on multiple occasions. Prefer Goldeneye, overall.

Am I an exception to the rule then? :)

Like with Donkey Kong Country on the GBA then? Nintendo owned, but Rare developed, yet released after the sale?

I doubt EA would let Free Radical make another Bond game as they are now taking it into a 3rd person perspective with Everything or Nothing.

.::: Which is an experiment. By no means does it pin down the direction of the next Bond.

Both games are flawed to hell though and the phrase rose tinted glasses neve suited a game better.

The only thing 'flawed to hell' is the frame rate which was good for its time :)

Anyone who calls goldeneye shit is a joker. After Mario Kart o the SNES i'd say its the best gamer ever made. Yes i know people say that alot but goldeneye had something no other game has had or will probably ever have again.

Anyone that says halo is better should take off their rose tinted glasses AND their hype glasses. Halo... Now theres a game that was flawed to gell. i cant stand it,

and its frame rate is horrendous for its time ;)

As someone attempted to point out, you're all close but way off.

.::: In what way? That's only one game. My original post wasn't directed at the next game being 'GoldenEye 2', it was more directed at the fact taht EA now has 'all of the ingredients'.

I just can't imagine it not having crossed the minds of people at EA.
