Escape From Tarkov, upcoming survival mmo(ish)

I've been playing since October. I have to admit the influx of new players over Christmas has been... delicious. The thing with Tarkov is that it strips all the things you rely upon in games to make them easier. Nav, information in the UI. You have to figure it out.

My advice for new players is run Customs with your PMC and Factory with your Scav. Focus on hiding and getting out first. Then on killing people. You can asily make 1-200k on a Factory scav run. For PMC run a mosin, with a tri rail, red dot and Z1N ammo. It will head shot through every helmet in the game. So get good at hitting heads.

Oh yeah, get in to the habit of taking a bandage, pain killers, and a split out every run as pmc. I take a IFK in my pocket and one in my case too. Get a CMS too.

Hot keying meds is amazing, but before I make my bank up I kept them in my case so as to not lose them run by run.

Pretty bad run of it today so far. Welcome to Tarkov as they say.

I cant stress offline mode enough for getting used to weapons and exfils. You will be able to explore alot more without any stress

Did a offline game in customs; barely found any loot.  Is it really that scarce in game?

Just had my possibly second successful PMC extraction (out of like 20 raids) despite quite losing my shit when a player scav popped up and I wasted a shitload of pistol ammo unloading into him because I couldn't head shot him for love nor money. I also forgot reloading with no space in your rig means you lose your magazines.

Still, got out with a paracord, teapot and a green gunpowder among other dreck, so quids in.

Stash space really is a ballache at lower levels. I've not got all the stuff for expanding it by any stretch and I need 2 more blue gunpowders for a bullet box (which I've just realised I could have bought from the flea market) but after cleaning out I'm now at 2.4m roubles which is nice.

Also I started on a PMC while I only had a pistol last night, which was fucking stupid. Every run you learn summat new, and that raid I learned if you can stay hidden and let them run by you, do so.

You need to buy a lucky Scav case. Highly recommend it.

Can't get it till level 2 on one of the traders and to do that I need to be level 15 I think. Plus it's like millions. When I get there I'll absolutely grind to get it though.

EDIT: It's Therapist LL2

Just done the most knuckleheaded thing so far; scav run on Customs (spawned in with a scope on a VSS that took up a good 6th of the screen or some shit), legging it from Old Gas Station and came across a PMC who'd been killed and not looted. Absolutely nothing taken. Backpack, mint helmet, slightly dinged tac rig, scoped OP SKS, lots of little doodads and whatnots that go for ok money so I nested my bag inside his, put the bag on me, robbed his guns and legged it.

Got to the next cache and my bags missing. I have no idea why but I must have flubbed moving it in my desperation to run away from the fire fight happening nearby. The fighting had stopped so I stupidly ran back to where I'd looted him to find the body had fucking despawned.

Ah well. Still made about 100k from what I did have and now I have a scoped OP SKS for someone to take off my body when I inevitably get killed.

Weird as I dont think they despawn. they just stay there for the duration of the raid, is my experience anyway.

Nope. Cunt was gone. No idea why but there wasn't even any loot on the floor or anything. I wonder if it was something to do with the Scavs spawning in near it.

Not that it matters anyway. I love it when games make little tales like this.

It's been an inconsistent evening. Lost an engagement to a Scav and I think a player who took advantage of the situation and completely flubbed sneaking up on another player Scav. That time I learned about lines of sight and that no matter how slow you walk the noise you make from belly flopping on the ground is a racket. A shame because I finally found a TOZ which Skier needs x of. Those and the white vests, which is hilarious given how much fucking space they take up.

One thing I am struggling with is mouse settings. I'm trying to find a balance between the pii and sensitivity and read that low dpi is better and adjust sensitivity accordingly but I sill can't seem to aim headshots up under pressure with a scope*. I had (past tense) a nice Mosin with a sight but I just can't make it work. Does anyone have advice aside from "Git gud" because I know I'm shit but it'd be better if I weren't fighting against the sensitivity and squirrely mouse aim.

*I went back to PUBG and had the same problem.

I've been keeping AKs and Mosins to lose on raids but every other gun gets dismantled and sold. Until you get to level 5 and you can start selling shit on the flea market it's the easiest source of income. You do need 2x133 (I think) for Prapors first quest, mind.

Have you tried just going in on Off line mode and testing against AI? until your aim gets better?

Results have been inconsistent. Went to factory in PvE and wasted absolutely everything. Tried again on customs and got leathered. I'm thinking it's specifically scopes I have a problem with. I have very little experience with K&M as I'm primarily a console gamer so I wondered if I'd made some rookie mistake with the settings.
