An Ubisoft rep was in Game in Chelmsford today. He set a time on the first track this morning and anyone who beat it would win a t-shirt.

 

Popped in, had a go and was the only person to beat it thus far. Created a new ghost to beat which is still going. 

 

Happy with that.

not played trackmania before and this wasn't on my radar at all, but now it's gonna be a day oner for sure. I AM THE TRACKMASTERRR (of london at least, on the first track on campaign)

 

edit: is "trackmaster" meaning you just beat the guy who made the track? because i got 1st in london in the 2nd map on campaign and didn't get it but got it on the first, i thought you'd get it when you get 1st in your region but i guess not!

I'm a bit frustrated that online tracks don't seem to have leaderboards, The PC version has excellent leaderboards for all tracks, including user created ones.

Flick both sticks down then up. 

 

Doing a stunt in the air will earn you a nitro boost too.

I had a go on the multiplayer earlier on the beta tracks and my rank went up after a couple of them. I guess because I'd bettered my time. Could mean that there will be leaderboards for other tracks but they haven't activated them for the beta.

Yes, the ranking up works but as far as I can see, there are no overall track leaderboards. I had a time on one track that was .2s quicker than anyone else on the server, I'd like to know where I rank on that track of all people who have a time on it.

 

And I guess it would be a stretch for a beta but I can't find a server any more which isn't 2 ranks below me meaning that levelling is really hard. The PC game also tells you how many points everyone got at the end which this Doesn't.

I'm so glad I bought this btw (instead of The Division for example) as the moment I loaded this up it instantly put a smile on my face. It's a hell of a lot of fun! It also runs and looks great on PC and I've had zero issues with it so far. Everything loads super fast and getting into online races has been really easy as well.

 

My only complaint is the timer for the online tracks is rather short. They should make it a 5 minutes minimum and have people customise it for a total of 15 mins max or something.

If this game doesn't do gangbusters anyone moaning about the lack of ridge/Daytona/outrun can go fuck themself.

Does this require a Trackmania account?

 

I seem to recall trying to play local multiplayer on the earlier games and each driver had to have a separate account. Does it still do that or has the account thing been scrapped?

 

Its not a deal breaker but I want to be able to play multiplayer with my 4yr old. Suppose I could just use one of my other email addresses to him up an account if required.

Excellent isn't it. I've never been a PC gamer and for some unfathomable reason I didn't buy the Wii one, so this is my first in the series too. 

 

It just feels good to finally play a decent arcade racer on my PS4. And one that looks so fantastic, they've nailed the arcadey visuals. The way the music builds is a nice touch too, more racers should do it.
