I've got an early-entry Saturday ticket although I'll have to wait and see if I'll actually be available to go :P Last year's was pretty good although I probably shouldn't have spent so long waiting to play Mighty No. 9...

I'll be there.

looking forward to trying Horizon and Tekken 7 mostly. Hopefully they'll have found a way to reduce the queues from last year. Waiting over 2 hours to play Tomb Raider last year almost killed me. Didn't even attempt the 4 hours for The Division.

Me and a mate are going, early bird on Friday. Decided to give the event once more chance after the queues (and the inability of the bar staff to pour a pint) totally ruined last year.

Gutted there's no Nintendo stuff there this year but looking forward to checking out Horizon, Tekken 7 and FF15. Tho will most likely spend most of the day in the retro section getting my ass whoop at Smash Bros as usual.

Looking at the map i don't think this year will be as good. Xbox are not there and neither are Nintendo or Ubisoft from what i can see. Even the games list either shows a lot of things already out or that have had betas already So will be interesting to hear peoples thoughts after this weekend.

Yeah, I kind of want to see if Sonic's any cop, and some of the FF games will be there too (XII, World) so I'd like to check those (even though they're probably not great showfloow material. :P ) If the queues are too much I'll just go to the retro and indie (Snake Pass!) areas as usual.  :)

EDIT: And then buy another Street Fighter tee from the merch area or something.

I've got a super pass so I'll be there Thursday to Saturday, although I have to agree that the lineup is a bit disappointing this year. Even the dev talks are a bit limp.

Still, the indie stuff looks cool and there shouldn't be quite so much of a queue situation with less big names around.

Friday and Saturday, with the Midlife Gmer party sat night, room escape booked in Brum for the Sunday and a visit to the pinball bar I can never remember the name of.

Will likely spend the vast majority in the Attrium and indie games sections again, not interested in the big games this year at all, queues put me off

If like me you're underwhelmed by the current crop of games at EGX then head to the Leftfield Collection and play A Normal Lost Phone. The premise is simple, you find a phone and have to search through the contents of the phone to unravel the story.

I was so happy to find this awesome detective X voyeur simulator tucked away. Speaking to the devs they mentioned Her Story and Life is Strange as two games they liked.

Everyone should go check it out, it does a good job of making you feel smarter than you are while weaving an interesting narrative that you get to experience from a unique perspective.

I've just come back from this. I only wanted to see a handful of games and had a few backup plans if the queues were too much, so it went a lot better than previous years. I had a go on Sonic Mania first and that looked really good - it's very nice and colourful, controls well, has some ace music in the Studiopolis Zone, and there are some cute stage gimmicks. The demo also finished quickly enough to keep the queue moving, but wasn't so short that you felt like you'd wasted time waiting.

I also played Sumo's Snake Pass, and after wrapping my head around the gameplay and controls I really enjoyed it. You move left and right to wiggle the snake and build speed, then you press buttons and the snake will slither upwards helping you reach other collectibles. It seemed like a simple concept but simply moving around the area was a lot of fun, and I laughed at my own ineptitude when I fell to earth after approaching things too slowly. I'm keen to see what the full game ends up like now - it's simple enough for younger players to enjoy, but the gameplay and presentation can be appreciated by anyone.

I wanted to look at World of FF and FFXII but I wasn't too concerned about finding time to play - trying to start a show demo of FFXII seems like it would eat up 99% of my time at the show. Still, World looks nice and colourful (even though I'll need time to fully understand the systems when it's released), and FFXII's high-res treatment looks ace. Having only played through the PS2 game for the first time this year, the jump in quality is impressive.

Aside from new games, I picked up more merch and also went to the "Replay" area for retro games and played Tempest 2000 on a Jaguar controller and an old CRT :D I've played emulations and remakes of the game before, but the original is still great fun. That said, I had never used the Jaguar controller before and that thing's horrendous  suddenly the 2001 Xbox pad doesn't seem so terrible. There's so much controller that I took a moment to work out how best to hold it, and there's no real "grip" in the mould to guide your hands. At least T2K doesn't use that many buttons, and the game sounds great on that old TV setup.

I didn't get a huge amount of merch; just a Protoman plush and a couple of souvenirs for others. Although I still have that unopened can of Tornado, so if today's events catch up with me I might bust that open. :P

I got six cans of tornado, five are at home incase of child emergencies.

Played on PSVR for the first time, Driveclub, it was pretty good, kept on forgetting that I can look around, was just staring at the road, ha. Need to get a wheel as it was great.  Had to queue for a while, even though I had a pre-booked slot, and only played for three laps, rip off. Bah.

Then it was into the retro section, bit of pinball (John Mnemonic!), Atari and that Jaguar tempest, yes, the controller is awful. Also played the asteroids clone on the vetrex, cool.

I happened to see Spleen walking past me in his rllmuk shirt as I was queuing for Call of Duty.

I can't believe you had all that Tornado. It is the most disgusting energy drink ever created. Like someone mixed Red Bull and Monster together, thought that wasn't sweet enough and added more sugary shit. I had a bit and it gave me a headache all night. :(

The left field and Rezzed areas were superb again, enjoyed it so much.

most played game of the show for us was overcooked, so much fun sat down with three mates, tears and hurting faces all round. Gang Beasts as always totally shone again.

mistly just played stuff like that, played some board games Cthulhu Pandemic was ace, played an awful lot of AC/DC pinball in the retro zone and drank far too much.

awesome weekend and now I am broken.

Did not know you're working on this. I adore the ios version. Most played game on the phone. Can't wait for the PC version.

I've only been there five weeks so far, joined right towards the tail end of dev so I've been looking at optimisation & bug fixing.  I'm a big Motorsport Manager fan, played the mobile version to death - it's one of the reasons we made MMA Manager, which has kept a roof over our heads for the last year but after 7 months on an unpaid VR demo collab which ended up going nowhere, it was time to find a job.  Playsport are also Guildford based and were looking for a coder, so I joined and couldn't be happier in my new role.  I really like the PC version, I think they've done a great job expanding the scope of it from the mobile game, hopefully you like it too :)

Just to do a bit of pimping, check out Motorsport Manager for PC, we're in the Leftfield Collection.

Spent some time with this - looking forward to some time with the full version.  It's come along way from the mobile game.

Any chance of a console release?
