Don't worry Don! If all you missed was Iron Fist you didn't miss much. I never got to the end of it myself.    I'm looking forward to Punisher tommorow.  Hopefully its as good as DD S1, JJ and Luke Cage.  Haven't heard who the baddies gonna be but as long as its not related to the hand I'm in!

I'm up to episode 4 and so far so good.  As with all the Netflix Marvel shows its a slow burner as it takes its time story and character building. That being said there have already been a couple of beasty action pieces. If you enjoyed Franks appearance in Daredevil then you won't be dissapointed. The story itself is interesting and some good characters have already been introduced.

I'm up to episode 8 now and im still waiting for the show to switch gears a bit.  I'm enjoying it still but it can be a little slow paced and the villains are a bit boring. There's actually a weird sub plot involving a mixed up army vet kid that's more interesting than the main story.  Its not that there's not enough action so much as there's often very little happening to move the story forward in any way.  Having said all this I'm still sufficiently gripped to see it through til the end.

Well I loved it, binged the whole thing (which I think always negates the pacing problems of these shows). I was just well invested in the characters, and enjoyed how it took its time with scenes and subplots. I think people are going to be surprised by what it's not more than what it is, and how that measures against your expectations is going to play a big part in whether you dig it. I thought all the performances were excellent.

Spoiler

It's more a story about PTSD and shady government stuff than anything directly to do with Frank. Getting closure and justice for Lieberman and Madani was the goal, with Frank playing a vital role in the pursuit of it. If I had one major gripe it's the slow reveal of the betrayal by Russo. It's painfully clear from moment one that they were going down that route, and I was dearly wishing it wouldn't turn out to be so - just to pleasantly surprise me more than anything. I even said "One of the episodes will end with Russo talking to one of the known bad guys before a cut to credits".

I'm sold after the first episode. Perfect tone and the slow pace doesn't bother me either.

Bernthal continues to nail the character.

Me too. I stopped watching Luke Cage halfway through but I'm going to finish it before Xmas and also watch this. I watched the first episode today and it's brutal and that's what he should be.

I got rid of Sky Cinema so I am finally watching Netflix properly now.

I haven't watched any of the Marvel series other than 1/2 of Luke Cage and 1 episode of this.

I've finished it now and all in all I thought it was pretty awesome. I still think it lagged a bit in the middle episodes but the final few episodes really paid off. The story on the whole was strong and there were a few great ( and brutal) action scenes. I'd rank it up there with DD, JJ and Cage. I thought Billy was a great character and Frank himself is  a total badass. Look out for a particularly gory scene at the end of episode 12. Here's hoping for season 2.

Well this pissed all over the other Marvel TV shows. I think it might even be better than Daredevil season 1

I think the only criticism I might have if there was one is (big spoilers):

Spoiler

Frank gets away scott free at the end. Frank should really have ended up back in prison, making him staying to save Midani more of a sacrifice. Also, there wasn't quite enough punishing going on, but I think it was trying to tell a more interesting story than that which is more than you can say for what many other shows would do. If anything the show is more about PTSD and hugging.

Yeah, thought it was fantastic. Wasn't overly melodramatic like the other shows or cheesy in the slightest. More grounded and visceral. Amazing stuff. The best one out of all the netflix shows so far. Better than DD Season 1 and that was at the top of my list.

I was not going to give this a shot after the last few due to feeling so let down by them, but glad i did.

Four episodes in and I'm quite impressed. Slow paced, and it remains to be seen if that drags it down, but I'm a bit baffled by numerous people in the Reddit thread complaining about his angst/the conspiracy plotline and saying they just wanted him mowing down criminals. Like that wouldn't get old very quickly. This is Frank Castle before he's fully committed to being The Punisher, and it's a far more interesting point to start from than, say, 'Warzone' Punisher.

The CIA bits are by far the weakest parts for me. The actors don't have enough presence to make all their paper chasing and wire tapping in the least bit interesting, but hopefully it grows into something more compelling.

I'm not really a fan of the black ops, off the books assassination team angle, though. I know it was probably needed to give the character a bit more depth, but it definitely misses the poignancy of his family being killed in a crossfire for no reason other than dumb luck/the criminals didn't give a shit.

We might be the only people in the world that liked this show. I've not chased any outside reviews, but according to a friend of mine everyone hates it and he was really surprised when I told him I thought it was great.

I think a lot of people were expecting Marvel’s John Wick

I'd have to agree that I didn't find the CIA conspiracy angle very interesting of itself. It felt like something I'd already seen a hundred times before. For me the story only really came into its own in the later episodes when it became personal between Frank and you know who. I wasn't overly keen on "Agent Orange" as a character either , he was a bit bland.
