PS5/Xbox Two please. Not interested in this mid-gen update bollocks.

If Xbox One X and PS4 Pro help to extend generations then I'm all for these mid-gen consoles. They're optional after all.

Destiny 2 framerate is reported as being 30fps on the Xbox X. It's CPU is the bottleneck it's seems.  Same issue with the PS Pro.  I think they should offer 1080p/60 if possible for those that want it.

I've read that there is some agreement with Sony to keep performance equal across platforms. So because PS4 Pro can't hit 60 fps, Xbox One X isn't allowed to. Could be absolute bullshit though.

Sounds like definite bullshit. Xbox One X will be 30fps because One S is 30fps.

But if it's the CPU that's holding it back, as you question, then perhaps it's not possible.

I've been doing a lot of research* and have decided to plump for this. Going to flog my One S a week or two beforehand. I lost my gaming rig down the back of somebody's couch a few years back and was going to do a new build but tbh I'm too much of a tinkerer. Every game I used to install I would literally fuck around with trying to squeeze every last frame out of. Editing cfg files, updating drivers, fucking with sliders. If I hadn't played a game for a week or two I'd scour the internet for new patches or tuts for performance improving juice. I know it doesn't need to be that way, especially now with a high end 1080 or whatever, where you could just max and forget but it's in my nature to twat about with PCs. So fuck it I'll get the closest console equivalents where my hands are tied and I play what I'm served up.

I love the PC, and it's definitely the ubermost place to game but my play to twiddle ratio is out of whack. I'll stick with my PRO and Xboxxx for my 4K shineys.

*None whatsoever.

It's a shame they no longer include a bog standard headset, a trend started with Xbox S and is set to continue with Xbox X.

Yeah I got stung by the One S not including a headset and still haven't bought one yet, mostly because I was hoping that MS would get around to launching a wireless on-ear headset, but that seems incredibly unlikely now. At some point I'm going to have to buy the basic or stereo variant just so I've got a decent mic.

I plugged my PSVR headphones into my bone stick the other night and after several minutes lost in-game audio. Even after I unplugged them the dash audio worked but in-game there was nothing. Had to do a hard reset.

Strange.

You know I've had a Gear VR for nearly a year and now a PSVR and I haven't watched a single minute of VR porn. Not even investigated. I'd have been all over that shit a few years ago. Probably would have done something like rest a pad on my balls and played a really rumble heavy game in the background. But now, I dunno, doesn't interest me. I've become very prudish with age. In fact your very suggestion sickens me. Right to the core.

Does Pornhub have a VR section?

Oaft, shots fired from Uncle Phil...

"I look at Pro as more of a competitor to S than I do to Xbox One X. This is a true 4K console. If you just look at the specs of what this box is, it's in a different league than any other console that's out there."

I don't know, going by that Eurogamer article, they are at least implying it with the last question. Maybe there's something more to it?

Unless Bungie come out and specifically say they couldn't get their engine to 4k/60 on Scorpio it's all supposition.

They are claiming there isn't enough CPU for the Physics to run at 60fps, which is an entirely separate thing from resolution.

Oh dear.  If anyone wants 60fps you gotta go PC then.

Yip.

I believe it's mainly because the game is still using mostly P2P servers, so every machine has CPU set aside from the requirements of the main game for the time that machine may be hosting the physics for all the other players.

Halo 4 in the MCC solved this problem and moved to 60hz by moving to dedicated servers and both Halo 4 and Destiny 2 are running on forks of the same engine (Halo Reach)

The game is 60 in Arena, which no one plays, and an unstable 30 in the actual game, no? I wouldn't be quite so certain unless he specifically says 4K60. I'm more interested in how/if the X will drastically reduce the time it takes to bring up the Galaxy map. THAT would be system seller material for me.

Is everything released for this also going to be compatible with XBox One? Or will it have exclusives?

No exclusives. Same as the PsPro.  They are supercharged versions of the base model (Xbox One X having a bigger supercharger)
