Well I'm rather gutted, it seems that of all the Next's that were shipped, my Yours Truly is the only one which has completely vanished. It went into the DPD shipping system and just completely disappeared, nobody knows what's happened to it. :(

To be fair, Henrique has handled it really well. He's organised a replacement to be sent to me straight away and he's going to get another case engraved and shipped to me at no extra cost. He was even prepared to give me his own accelerated unit, as I had paid a bit extra for the Pi Zero to be added to the Plus, but they don't have any over. I declined though, didn't seem right given everything he's put into the project

It seems a small thing in the grand scheme, but of all the things I didn't want to get lost in delivery, this was it. Props to Henrique and the Next team for sorting this out for me without any fuss though.

Looking forward to having it this Tuesday if all goes well!

Tried out the BBC core last night. I don't really know what I'm doing with a BBC (turning on and off processors, owl ROMs etc?) but with the Beeb SD image it's simple enough bringing up a menu of games and getting them running, impressive stuff even at this early stage. Now I just need to find a decent game :D

Edit: scrub that, there's a really nice port of Fire Track. What I don't get is how Fire Track can be done on a Beeb with smooth scrolling, decent music, and then there's Commando :D

Giving the Intellivision core a bash shortly now that RGB has been fixed.

To be fair the programmer of Fire Track, Nick Pelling (AKA Orlando), was considered to be one of the best programmers on the BBC micro.

I guess you could ask to change the delivery address? It may be too late but it’s worth a try.

In the bigger picture though I could imagine the last next deliveries could be delayed due to everything going on at the moment.

I sent Henrique a message via KS and he changed it immediately. Also came across as a really nice guy, despite putting up with me fretting about the situation. ^_^

Glad it worked out. I found him very helpful as well when I contacted him back at the start of the kickstarter.

Does anyone know whether theyre planning on making this a retail product or if theyll be doing a second run of these? I didnt back the original kickstarter due to the shit show that was the Spectrum Vega

They are going to do a second Kickstarter at some point. This is a totally different team than the Vega + lot though, you know that right?

Hence the delivery of a quality product. :)

And that is the message that I was so trying to get across on my podcast. Having known Jim Bagley for years and having met Henrique in person I was always convinced that these guys would get the job done, despite all of the setbacks that they faced.

Yeah I know, different team but similar product. Will definitely back it when they do their second run though :)

24 hours to be on the safe side. I think it can live that long on cardboard. Plastic and glass it can last up to 3 days apparently.

Out of interest did you get a tracking mail from Kickstarter when it was sent out?

No, just a 'here comes the Yodelman' notification today.  Didn't know what it was.

Oooh!  Mine has just arrived, I'm very excited.  How long before open it to be confident I'm minimising my risk of coronavirus from it?

(Genuine question)

I can't remember where I read it now, but the advice I saw was to open it, dispose of the outer packaging immediately, then wash your hands thoroughly before anything else.

Did people here who got an accelerated Next get any sort of email with tracking info etc? I'm waiting for mine but haven't had any communication.

Looks like you're in the same boat as me. I've backed the Accelerated model. Backer no. 512. No delivery email as yet.

I was backer 1832 and seen someone as low as 155 say they've heard nothing so don't think the time we ordered it matters.
