If Nolan directs does that mean he co writes it with his brother too? He's not going to put up with the usual nonsense script surely ? (Is he a coup for the Bond producers so can demand more control? I dunno. He's always been to open in his willingness to do Bond but it's not like the franchise needs him really - success wise, I mean)

Not sure - it could simply be that WB have won the rights to distribute the movie and are doing so with the help of Syncopy. That could be the end of Nolan's involvement. On the other hand, why bother involving Syncopy if you're not going to one or both of the Nolan brothers? I would imagine Eon still have final say on almost everything though.

Nolan and Bond would be a perfect match.... Five years ago. I feel like SKYFALL is essentially the exact type of Bond Nolan would make. I kind of hope he doesn't do it. We don't need more of the same from Bond or him.

If Nolan is directing the next Bond, they should definitely get rid of Craig and let Nolan focus on a trilogy. Craig has one film left in him - if that. Bring in Christian Bale.

It's a pity that the Blofeld idea/story was so wasted in Spectre. It could have made up a decent story arc over a number of films (like in the books Thunderball, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and You Only Live Twice), instead it ended up the usual standalone Bond film fodder that Craig's output has suffered from. Hinting at some big story joining them all together, but not delivering.

Plus if it were Nolan (and his brother) writing, it would mean an end to the dross that is Purves and Wade.

That's a shame - although I don't think they've yet announced who will distribute the new film. I know Skyfall was the last one Sony were contracted for, and they are bidding to win the new contract, along with the likes of WB. Not that it would make much difference to the content of the movie.

"Story arc". See the other thread but that is precisely where they have been going wrong.

JW Pepper and Jaws were the only nods to recurring characters in proper Bond.

While I'm at it, look up the SMERSHPod podcast. Discussing  each movie in an individual show.

Guys, Nolan would be a terrible choice for Bond. He's one of the coldest, most asexual directors working today. Bond needs - sorry, CRAIG'S Bond - needs to recapture the fire and passion that was present in Casino Royale. They've done the depressed, broken shell Bond to death now.

Looking to explore other characters in the Bond Universe? Probably nothing at all to be honest, but the character does at least have himself established. I was going to say - do we really need a Blofeld origin movie then remembered we already sort of had one.

Now, fifteen years on and with the success of the ‘cinematic universe’ model in modern cinema, could the franchise be trying something similar again?

The Tracking Board’s Jeff Sneider this week reports that he’s heard that producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are considering the option: “I’ve heard the Broccolis have caught Universe Fever and would love to explore other corners of the Bond franchise…simultaneously.”

In terms of possibilities there’s plenty – from following the handful of other 00 agents to exploring established characters like Felix Leiter. Even so, its a speculative rumor at best.

The franchise has more important things on its mind right now, such as determining whether to get star Daniel Craig back for one last outing or to recast and undergo the usual ‘refresh’ that comes with a changing of the Bond guard.

Couple of things came up over the weekend.

Christopher Nolan said he'd be willing to direct a Bond movie - if it ever needs re-inventing. The implication being it'd be a new start/new Bond. He has in the past met with the producers but I think it's just a headline for movie sites to run with as opposed to being that ever happens. And the other piece of news means he's unlikely to take up the job anyway.....

A few places are reporting that Craig has now signed up for another outing and that they're also seeking Adele to return for the theme. To be honest, given they have no story, cast or timeline set, it seems unlikely they'd be approaching Adele this early. Reeks of 'an insider said' or 'someone familiar with the character said'

They shit the bed with Spectre (Including the awful theme song).  If Craig is back they need to knock it out of the park for his last outing.

And Adele sucks balls.  Skyfall was an awful theme song.  We've had two dreary dirges, it's time for another You Know My Name style belter.

I love that they're actually dumb enough to think Adele's worthless, droning, dull theme was a reason anybody ever went to see a movie. More than anything that says to me that the people making these decisions don't have the vaguest idea what people actually like about them.
