I keep hoping that one day I'll understand the attitude here towards PC gaming, because honestly it makes my head spin.

The venom comes out of people towards the very idea that they might not use the weakest hardware when indulging in their favourite hobby, its just remarkable.

My main takeaway from this conference is that Microsoft are slyly turning Boozy into the thing he hates most of all: a PC gamer.

You know that Facebook guy that paid for Hulk Hogan's legal bill so that he could take down gawker? I reckon rllmuk has a high-ranking Microsoft employee that's shifted it's entire focus just because Boozy is such a whiny little pissbaby he can still be moaning when Microsoft have a decent press showing and announce the most powerful console ever.

'The most powerful console ever' is just marketing bullshit ripped straight from Apple though, who every year will say some variation of it about their latest device, as if it's some incredible revelation and not what has been the case for every successive device they've released.

It's meaningless.

The Xbox One wasn't the most powerful console and the Xbox 360 arguably wasn't, even if it was easier to program for. According to all rumours it's more powerful than whatever Sony might announce. Since loads of people chose the PS4 because it was the more powerful of two very similar machines, it's not even slightly meaningless.

Its really quite savvy what MS and Sony are proposing. They know the fans will always buy the most powerful hardware. Why wait 5 or 6 years to be able to get more money from them? This model means they can get money every 2 to 3 years from the hardcore gamers. This markets going to be a hardware one upping numbers war!

Except... VR headsets.

A major reason either souped up console is happeneing is the demands of VR headsets, which will be themselves iterative, and cost the same as a new console.

It's the worst time in decades to start rinsing your core demographic for more hardware money.

Fucking idiots have decided VR can only work if there is no drop in graphical fidelity from current console gaming, and really, the best approach is a nintendo approach - careful, patient crafting of a new gameplay experiences through experimental games with a mass market ticket price and the emphasis not on graphical bells and whistles . I thought Sony were fully onboard for that, but seemingly only for 6 months.

Loads more people chose the PS4 because it was the more powerful of the two AND cheaper.

If Scorpio is also cheaper than the Sony equivalent, we have a contender.

I'm not sure. I think Microsoft would have justified the extra cost if it was the more powerful of the two. Being worse and more expensive was...Non-ideal.

I'm looking forward to PSVR launching, so by the time the Scorpio comes around the VR fad will have already began to fizzle.

Due to E3 we all missed Apple's keynote where they announced their biggest OS update for IOS. Right on the money there Smitty.
