He's been playing well, I thought? Isn't it the entire rest of the team that's the problem?

He's definitely improved his ratio of games where he shines vs those where he is anonymous and I think he is still on the up (heading towards his peak), when he's on fire he brings a spark to the team that no-one else can.

He went to Man U too early, but I wonder if we will have trouble holding on to him in the summer even if we stay up.

Hmm, so a back four again. Strange, I though the team looked good against Germany, and it's obviously going to take more than one game for the players to gel in a new formation. I guess Southgate isn't taking any chances because it's an actual qualifying game. Plus he would probably have to drop Dier back into the defence and then you'd probably have to pick two of Ward-Prowse, Chamberlain and Livermore in midfield... actually doesn't sound too bad tbh.

This is a good piece on the Coleman thing.

I don't know what fans of other clubs think about this but I know I've seen some really reckless tackles recently against Arsenal that the commentators didn't condemn in the slightest. There were a couple from Sutton & Lincoln players in the FA Cup that the BBC guys were actually laughing about and calling "tasty", when the reality was that if the recipients had their weight on the leg that got clattered, they'd both have ended up in the same boat as Eduardo, Ramsey, Coleman etc.

You'll never eliminate the issue entirely (plus of course people break their legs in incidents where no horrendous foul was committed ie Smith, Cisse), but the author is probably right that if refs were less scared of "ruining the game" with a red card, players would change their approach to reckless tackling.

FIFA to cover Coleman's wages while he is absent - could be up to a year, with a bad double break like that.

Brilliant, this tech is used in the NHL all the time, as they go to a central situation room in Toronto to confirm goals (and goals only) should count or not. Seems to have worked well in the France/Spain game.

I would have thought there would be a lot of talk about the video ref in the France vs Spain game as they disallowing a goal for France that was given and at the other end reversing an offside call for a Spain goal that was disallowed for offside.

I just came in to mention it. Im glad that the first international game its used in, it shows that it does work and doesnt slow the game down at all. Imagine those decisions not being allowed to be reviewed in a final.

Apropos nothing, Burnley released their accounts for last season. £3.7m loss. Would have been £8m  profit but paid out £11.3m in promotion bonuses.

All development work on ground is complete, new training centre opened a month ago, no outstanding debt... yeah, that'll do.

I go to more Man City games than I go to Leicester and their fans are for the most part really nice.

A Man City fan asked me for a fight back in 2006, okay we had just beaten them 2-0 at their ground, with the mighty Leroy Lita scoring a brace, but I still don't think that warranted his request.

how did YOUR team do? no surprises on the 'winners'.

Pretty much just an excuse to slag off Arsenal fans really. Chelsea got off lightly and Spurs and Everton should probably be higher.

As for Watford... That sums up how I feel about them at the moment, and I support them.

Man City #1 is bogus.
