EFL Championship 2016/17

Could be worse mate, I mean imagine following a team which is genuinely difficult to support like Arsenal.  You might have it bad at Ipswich but they've not got an entire season unbeaten for more than ten years and are only about to play in their third FA Cup final in four seasons. Must be awful for them. :(

Fair enough and good luck to him. He was brilliant in our play-off year but he hasn't been great this season and we've got Webster and Smith who I would hope would be ahead of him next year (and fucking Chambers doing fist pumps and whatever else it is he does).

Rangers also credited with an interest, so may not be a done deal yet.

Any idea why Ipswich seemed to suggest that they had taken up the contract extension, only for that to turn out to be nonsense @SuperMBo? I figured it was because they were maybe going to use it to get Paterson from us, but that turned out not to be the case.

Honestly think we made overtures to do it just from a business perspective and to keep things ticking over to the end of the season - Webster was injured, Smith has come back from injury, Taylor can't walk more than ten metres without injuring himself (Chambers remains frustratingly injury free). Now we're here we've 'done the right thing' so to speak as its to be able to spend more time with his kid rather than because we're crap (unlike Tommy Oar, who cancelled his contract after five months to go back to Australia because he was homesick, and then pretty much immediately gave an interview saying actually it was because we were shit).

If you do have any 20 goal a season strikers or creative midfielders lying about, feel free to send one our way (just someone who can trap a ball and pass it forward would do).

Have you seen the bullshit manager we're being linked to?

Yeah - the one mistake Fosun have admitted to making is appointing Zenga, a rushed appointment and the wrong man.  This would be no different - a chancer who has done nothing except hop between different clubs for very short stints in charge.

I'm praying it's bullshit.

It'd be Zenga all over again and a colossal mistake.  Whatever is happening behind the scenes needs sorting out quickly - I can't believe Lambert wasn't aware that Mendes would be used.  Wouldn't they have gone through all of this when he was appointed?  Have the goalposts been shifted?

Indeed.  I can understand his frustrations but:

1. Why has it taken until now to come to a head?  Surely such things would have been discussed when he was first appointed?  Mendes' relationship with Fosun is no secret.

2. You DON'T air your dirty laundry in public via the press.  It's disrespectful to the club and to the supporters - got a problem?  Sort it out in house.  Don't go leaking your dissatisfaction to your chums at the Torygraph.

He's dug his own grave by the sounds of it - and as such, Wolves will be tarnished with the Venkys/SISU/Oyston/Cellino mad fucker owners brush.

Wolves were a club he could use to rebuild his reputation after his time at Aston Villa and Blackburn. It was a win win situation for him because the squad wasn't awful and Mendes is a nice excuse for him to leave without it looking like it's his fault.

Now a case of when Lambert leaves, not if.  The delay is apparently Fosun wanting to source a replacement before they announce his departure, which seems a bit daft to me.

Aitor Karanka is one of the favourites - not sure about that TBH.  I've had enough of seeing dull, negative football.  And didn't he have a massive hissy fit towards the end of Boro's promotion campaign and almost leave?

Still, better he gets it than that nomadic Portuguese dude who hasn't done anything in 15 odd years of management!

Reading vs Huddersfield in the playoff final.

Would favour the former, I think.

I've seen quite a lot of Championship football this season and I'd prefer Huddersfield as I feel they'd bring a more expansive, attacking game to the Premier League. Yorkshire needs a Premier League side too - Hull and Middlesborough aren't really your archetypal Yorkshire clubs (not sure if Boro is in Yorkshire but it has been at some point). Reading have had a few chances in the Premier League but Huddersfield would be a great addition.

It's the League 2 semifinals today. Could be Blackpool, Luton, Exeter or Carlisle, they're all very close going into the second legs. There were 11 goals in the first legs and only Blackpool have a goal advantage. Blackpool 3 Luton 2, Carlisle 3 Exeter 3. Personally, I want an Exeter vs Blackpool final, both teams, on their day are very pleasing on the eye.
