I've not played for ages but if you want a game, give me a shout :)

Yeah, why not. I’ll finish off the bot stuff at some stage and then I’ll give you a shout.

Is there some way of us all adding each other as friends on the game?

I'll reinstall it on my pc now.

I assumed so. Haven’t looked. Hadn’t thought about it being (sort of) Nintendo though.

It’s a damn clunky piece of software though. I’ve had to restart it many times. Partly my internet going down and confusing it, but not always.

I have had no problems with it this evening on my desktop but i think thats because i have opted to download all the card art files which i couldent do on my laptop before.

Oh, you have no idea what you have started now!

I've been playing the online card game loads since, we started discussing it and now i find i have pre-ordered two theme decks due for release tomorrow :O

Whoops.

If it's any consolation, I've decided that the 6 year old (who is actually to blame!) would definitely prefer doing things the slow and expensive way of buying boosters etc. So, y'know. Doomed.

you are and i have just added you :)

Just to confirm, it is me you have added. Accepted it.

I’ve just finished one deck on the trainer challenges and felt I was getting the hang of it, but then moved onto the next one and instantly got defeated. So, maybe not.

With the early on stuff i would have a look and see what cards are weak against each element etc.

And the more you win the more cards are unlocked for those beginner decks.

I struggled a bit last night but currently after finishing the gold cup i am going back to it so i can get the four stars (one star per deck you win with) and unlock booster packs.

Spoiler

I’m ticking through, with the occasional stutter. I’m on 10/12, 4/7, 0/7 on the starting decks.

It is a little bit annoying that these starting decks have so much variance in them. It’s very easy to get battered one go with not much you can do about it, then batter the same opponent because you drew a couple of good cards at the start. A nice steady/consistent deck would make it easier to learn the game.

EDIT: 7/7. So 7/12 I guess. But that is two decks unlocked, and some cool cards from boosters I got from the daily unlocks.

@TehStu The Force Collection flashbacks are strong. (I still miss that game.)

Wait, what app is this? I want in!

I thought you’d already have tried it since you’re doing the real thing. Pokemon Trading Card Game Online. It’s literally the game, but digital. It’s on computer or tablet, not phones.

You can add codes from real stuff you’ve bought rather than actually spending money in the app. In fact there’s literally no option to give them money in the app, which is quite refreshing.

Ah! Yeah, I've got a big stack of those "play this deck online" cards, never thought to try them. Do you need Pokémon Trainer accounts for those? And can they be shared among the family? I think my lot would complain if I used them all myself :D

Shame there isn't an app, I don't get to sit down at a computer often these days.

Yeah, it’s a shame it’s tablet only for the app. But the layout would need completely reworking on a phone, it’s already a bit squinty on a tablet.

It is jolly good though.

I’ll leave @The Eagle Lord to answer the rest. I’ve not added any codes yet.

Basically you need a Pokemon Trainer Account from the official site which is where you'll be going to get the game anyway for the computer.

The codes on those cards basically mirror what they came from online (e.g. my Soaring Storm deck is physical and online).

They are one use only as well.

OK, going to fish out my Sun and Moon deck code tonight, hopefully it'll be easy to figure out which one of this pile it is. Meanwhile, I'm trainer account TehStu.

Found this on Pokemon Go account help:

Quote

Trainers who first created an account with Facebook or Google cannot link a Pokémon Trainer’s Club (PTC) account to their Pokémon GO account; however, Trainers who first created accounts through PTC can link additional accounts through the methods provided in this article.

Damn :( I guess my TCG and PoGo stuff will remain separate, no way I'm starting over there (level 36).

I forgot about the existence of Go completely while I was signing up to this to be fair.

You're OK if you create one of these and then join Go, but you can't have started Go (with Google login, which at one point was the ONLY way to sign up) and then merge it with this. That's a bummer, you'd think early PoGo adopters would be littered with dedicated Pokemon nerds, who would also have one of these general accounts.

C'est la vie!

Do you get some tat somewhere for doing... Something? Or is it just to be all in one place neat?

Here’s a tactics question...Where are Pokemon safer, in my hand or on my bench? Obviously it varies from game to game, but in general.

It's uncommon for Pokémon to take damage on the bench, but it does happen.

A general rule your Pokémon really only gets hit while it's in the active slot.

EDIT: I sometimes have a fodder Pokémon that I have in the active slot just taking damage, so I can put energy etc on the one i am going to swap in once said fodder is dead.

I meant “hand” as in “not played at all” and “safe” as in “can get to the table in one piece”

ie. not discarded or shuffled back into the deck.

There are cards which force both of you to discard your hands and shuffle or add back to the deck and shuffle.

But as a rule the hand should be safe outside of this.

Sorry i misread the question.

Going back to what i misjudged in the last point the last attack in the game we just had due to synergy with the pair of Legendaries made it damage the deck too.

That whole fight would have gone better if Gyardos wasn’t hiding behind a prize card. Although, as I said the other day, the fact it’s so difficult to reliably get cards out with these starter decks wasn’t helping either.

I’ve just passed 500 space bucks, so I can get a deck now. I’ll go shopping later.

I'd google, but the deck i mostly come across right now is "Relentless Flame" which i quite like if i'm honest.

You could wait for them to add "unified minds" to the store the deck i played against you with "soaring storm" has some great synergy and combos if you get the card draws right.

That’s Charizard and such isn’t it? I just got beaten by that in a versus. (But finished my daily challenge, which is the important bit). Do like a Charizard. Although the best individual cards I have got out of boosters are water, so it might be sensible to look for more in that line for The Future when I’m actually deckbuilding.

Can’t do another game, sorry. About to go out and watch Mr Spider-man.
