If they try and replace Mary Berry with another older lady, it'll just invite unfavourable comparisons.

They should go for another contrasting personality to Hollywood instead. Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall would be good I think.

I reckon they might go for one of the former winners – Ruby or Nadiya, maybe.

I thought they might go down the former winner route, but I can't think of anyone with a strong enough personality. Ruby or Nadiya would probably have a nervous breakdown judging someone else's bake.

C4 screwed up in not ensuring the talent moved over along with the show.

The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking Nadiya – I think she'd be pretty good.

I despise Alan Carr.

Although Bake Off succeeded because of the combination of presenters/judges, I do think Paul is the most easily replaceable element of the show. Grumpy, critical middle aged male chefs are ten-a-penny on TV. Finding another Mary Berry figure or a presenting duo with the history and therefore chemistry of Mel and Sue is a much taller task than if they had to replace Paul.

Lee and Herring....

Lee and Herring....

That would be amazing.

Herring asking the contestants bizarre questions about ham hands and sucking their own French Horn while Lee just glares at everyone and everything with utter contempt.

Davros there's always an element of doing what you can in the time limit, but I would have preferred the focus to be on one main item rather than the 'bake 14 of this, 10 of that, 12 of the other and a cake' that they did this year. In previous years there's certainly been time in the final for the contestants to really focus and go to town with their creations.
