I thought they might go down the former winner route, but I can't think of anyone with a strong enough personality. Ruby or Nadiya would probably have a nervous breakdown judging someone else's bake.

The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking Nadiya – I think she'd be pretty good.

I'd put good money on them adding a Come Dine With Me style voice-over on it rather than hire more presenters.

They could show her making the bunting and decorating the tent at the beginning of each episode.

Never seen Bake Off but if Sarah Beeny presented it I would watch.

If the BBC does decide to go ahead with a new programme featuring Mary, Mel and Sue they should just replace Paul Hollywood with Benoit Blin (from Bake-Off Creme de la Creme). He'd be better than Hollywood ever was.

In an unusual turn of events the most consistent contestant throughout the series actually won the final.

 

I wasn't keen on the final show-stopper being more an effort in planning to get loads done, rather than have the focus on one particular bake though.

Isn't that really the case for every round though? It's more of a race against the clock than any test of bakery skills, as shown when the eliminated contestants always do perfect bakes when they go on An Extra Slice, with unlimited time.

 

Anyway, I thought the best contestant won, both on the day, and generally.

I would of preferred a more technical final, but the best baker won. And to bake for 5 hours solid, that's impressive.

Yeah I wasn't into the "bake these 500 things" showstopper. Give me a cake shaped like the BT Tower any day

Davros there's always an element of doing what you can in the time limit, but I would have preferred the focus to be on one main item rather than the 'bake 14 of this, 10 of that, 12 of the other and a cake' that they did this year. In previous years there's certainly been time in the final for the contestants to really focus and go to town with their creations.

I think I liked the variety. I seem to remember the final (wedding?) cakes last year being a bit of an anticlimax.
