Board games gone digital (yes, even android)

Thought I would create a not just iOS centric thread.

Today Splendor on iOS and android has been updated with online multiplayer. Haven't bought a copy either physically or digitally yet, but do hope the digital version has local wifi play like the excellent Ticket to Ride.

The digital version of Carcassonne is my preferred way play. Passing a tablet around.

Scoring and tracking the table top version is not hard, but having a computer do it as you go along is cool, and eliminates the occasional mistakes that get made.

Worth a look:

Ticket To Ride

Pandemic

Ascension

Star Realms

Galaxy Trucker

And if you're after something a bit heavier, these are good implementations (although I would say you have to be very familiar with the actual games themselves to get the most out of them):

Twilight Struggle

Puerto Rico

Caylus

Agricola

Le Havre

Dominant Species

I've got both Carcassone on iPhone and android. Both are good adaptions, but iOS is better. Shame Code Monkeys don't do android apps as my wife would like a digital Lost Cities on her phone.

But I will be playing on android as that is the tablet we have. May teach my wife how to play later, won't take long. Great game.

I bought a ton of boardgame apps for my iphone. Then I ditched it, got an Android and have subsequently not downloaded any on account of having lost all the previous ones.

I am so, so sorely tempted so, so often though.

Is there a good Catan game on Android?

Catan is on android and sounds good. Not played it myself:

edit: looks like it is well supported too.

I play on tabletop sim a bit it's got some cracking mods.

I think steam sales have conditioned me to not buy games full price but my friend mentioned that the autumn steam sale is coming up so I think I'll check it out then :-P

App bargains time! Nice price reductions today.

Patchwork, All Creatures Big and Small, and Le Harve: Inland Port have all been reduced on android and iOS.

Patchwork is fantastic, bought it a bit ago and we play it all the time.

All titles support cross platform multiplayer I think too.

If anybody wants to see my average patchwork skills, add me - I'm midwalian there too.

Paperback has now been released on android, iOS version came out a couple of weeks ago.

No online yet but they do state it is coming soon. Keeping my wallet safe until it has online and a confirmation it uses a British dictionary...and family sharing.

Oh, I hope absolutely everybody has bought Patchwork - such a great game.

Le Harve: Inland Port is an interesting game, and the app is a decent version of it. I think it's a better board game, as the swirly player boards are unlike anything out there, but it's still very interesting to play. There's a constant tension over when to trigger buildings, when to buy buildings and when to trigger your opponent's buildings. It's quite a stressful little engine builder with a big disruption aspect to it. The AI is a little weak, and there's a fuckton going on, on the screen (so phablet and above only I'd say) but certainly worth a purchase.

I need to learn how to play All Creatures Big and Small. I know a bit from a YouTube video (radho)- I may just have to read the instructions on BGG. Still want physical edition of this for the components.

Will give Le Harve a go one day.

Looking forward to seein what other games digidice release. All games have been 2 player Rosenberg ones so far - which I'm quite happy about.

Oh, and I bought the Splendor app and we tried the online tonight - worked ok but a bit cumbersome. Game seems neat though.

Favourites for me (from an iOS perspective, but may be on Android too):

Neuroshima Hex! (although I'm not really a fan of the new art)

Tigris & Euphrates

Qin

San Juan

Battleline

Star Realms

Khet

Ingenious

Catan

Samurai

And at the moment I'm mostly playing a lot of Patchwork, which came out digitally just recently. Already had the physical copy as someone gave it to my wife & I as a Christmas present, but it's a great game so definitely snapped up the app. Worth checking out.

Pathfinder ACG: Rise of the Runelords is on iOS (not sure about android). The first scenario is free, not sure how much subsequent ones cost. Might be worth a look if anyone is interested in that sort of game.

Yep it's on Android. It's a really good implementation, but the pricing for the extra content is a little weird.
