THIS IS STUPENDOUS NEWS!

It's like the gaming Gods are looking at me and saying, "Karzee, you SHALL again play your favourite Top 5 Xbox 360 games of all time. I've got Bioshock, XCOM, and Dead Rising, and now a remastered Bulletstorm on the way. I only need Vanquish and this'll be me:

Yes, seen as this is being published by Giga-cunts Gearbox Software, I'd already presume it to be a half-baked ported will ill-advised art changes and bugs galore.

But who knows! Might turn out to be awesome, eh? I loved the original and played it on the 360, but did feel that the frantic nature of the game would particularly benefit from a frame-rate boost to 60 fps... yes, PC version. I'm not inclined to play games on a PC for various reasons.

I thought the original dev was given the rights for it? so unless they have anything better to do, they'd be a perfectly economic choice for doing a remaster of their own game. Some of the other Eastern European games which got remastered have also been done by their original devs.

I mean at this point Gearbox is just trying to make a quick buck to recuperate the stupendous amount of losses they've been having. After Colonial Marines, Duke Forever and Battleborn all being stinker after stinker they probably can't afford to think outside the box (haha) and will have to play it safe for a few years.

Enter lazy Duke 3D 'remaster' and now Bulletstorm. Exciting stuff.

Yep. This thread has provided the most emotional whiplash between title and content that I've felt in a good while.

(Though, to be fair, Homeworld Remastered wasn't bad, particularly after patching, and Deserts of Kharak was brilliant, so if Gearbox are acting solely as a publisher again this might actually be fine)

Yeah Gearbox are very likely just helping out with the physical distribution on PS4/Xbox One.  People Can Fly own the IP and the first game as it was gifted to them by Epic as a very generous move when they left, it wouldn't surprise me if they were publishing the PC/Steam version themselves.

This was an EA Partners title before so it looks like that contract has expired and they can get it re-released again, probably why Gearbox is involved.

Was Bulletstorm marketed badly?  I can't remember - I seem to recall the actual game being nothing like I expected. I definitely didn't realise it was a pastiche of Gears of War-type games until I'd started playing.

3 hours ago, Halo said:

Isn't Bulletstorm often compared to Duke Nukem?

A bit of wild speculation, but since Gearbox now own Duke, perhaps People Can Fly are working with them on a new Duke game?

Only in that there's a lot of wisecracking, but Bulletstorm is smartly written silliness rather than Duke's crass stupidity.
