One of my favourite games of last gen. I've pre-ordered, I'll take any excuse to go through it again and hearing Duke quip his way through the missions should be a laugh. It's £32 at Amazon if you use their £2 off for Prime subscribers offer (free month a go go).

Hopefully some of that the money is going to People Can Fly. To be fair, I have no idea why they thought Duke Nukem was a good idea as a pre-order bonus. I mean, how many people still know who Duke Nukem is? Duke Nukem Forever bombed IIRC, so this seems like a terrible idea in hindsight.

 

I still fucking pre-ordered it though :P

This is the only reason my mate bought it, he didn't even know what bulletstorm was until he saw Duke was in it.  I'm sure there would be more like him so maybe not as stupid as you think.

I kind of disagree with some of the details in that review, because the whole appeal of Bulletstorm's campaign for me wasn't that it was a puerile video nasty affair, it's that it was a genuinely subversive piss-take of action games that manages to be funnier and more imaginative than the things that it's taking the piss out of; it's the videogame equivalent of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang or the Nice Guys. The campaign is one of the best in its class, it's better than every Gears of War game put together. It's everything Duke Nukem Forever thinks it is and isn't, which is why sticking Duke in there is such a tone-deaf move. 

 

But details aside, it's good to hear that it's a solid remaster and not some hacked-out upscaled port of the PC version. I am pretty tempted to get this.

There's just something about Bulletstorm that ticks all the boxes for me. Blue skies, great vistas, the skillshot system, the dick jokes...

 

Plus that one moment when this big mutant smashes into a room with a pool of toxic waste in the middle, and you are all like "here we go, boss battle to get the mutant to fall in the pool" then the game completely fucks with you by a pipe falling on the big mutant's head and he trips and falls in all on his own with a priceless 'oh shit' look on his face and off you go.

 

Best game.

Or the bit where

they tease a boss battle against a giant robot dinosaur for an entire level, spring it on you, and almost immediately reveal that the dinosaur is being directed by some punk with a remote control. You kill him, take the controller, and all of a sudden you're the boss, and you're cathartically smashing your way through the rest of the level. Beautiful bit of misdirection.

Also, Gearbox have excelled themselves with the digital pricing of this. The base game on PSN is £44.99, and the Duke Nukem DLC is £3.99. The bundle of the two of them together is £49.99.

As anyone could have predicted the G2A and Gearbox partnership is turning into a mess.

Gearbox are now acting as if they have only just discovered G2A are dodgy and have issued a bunch of demands.

It's weird, because it's not like it would have taken much due diligence to reveal that your chosen business partner is a grotesquely dodgy outfit with a long history of ripping people off. All they had to do was google "Gearbox".

Watching the Giant Bomb Quick Look. Bulletstorm itself has held up remarkably well.

 

But that Duke Nukem mode is painfully unfunny. I just felt a deep sense of cringey embarrassment listening to Jon St. John croak out the same tired old catchphrases for the umpteenth time.

You're not wrong, they even backed it with a non-ironical late 2000s dubstep track.

 

Anyway, you'd be mad to buy this now with all the amazing games that are available. This has bargain bin written all over it, better save it for when the summer drought kicks in.

Well, Its not enough to stop me buying their games, what isn't inspired or copied these days.  I thought the way people were going on that they were grinding up children and using them to feed their employees.  jeez.
