Not sure what that's got to do with what I was referring to - I'm talking about one specific comment, you might want to just focus on the argument i was making there.

An argument made regarding after making an assumption that he was talking about the graphics.

Why do you assume that people are only ever talking about graphics? I said it was stunning, not that it looks stunning.

It's a cutscene. It's graphics. You weren't interested in the game, then you were convinced by a swish cutscene, which is pretty much the most predictable certainty in the world when you're talking about a Naughty Dog game.

I think 'can I make this trailer my game of the year' is deeply ironic given your gaming predilections.

That doesn't sound like Joel's voice to me, I'm betting he's dead and that's why she's so angry.

I thought it both sounded, and looked, like him. Even the use of 'kiddo' seems in character..

Great trailer, look forward to seeing it without the whooping crowd accompaniment. I guess the game is 18-24 months away though :(

With the greatest respect to Smitty, and his opinion is valid, but let's nip this in the bud here before we end up with 5 pages on that post.

Smitty - please stop stirring up anger within the 1st page of this threads creation, you know he was excited by the trailer itself, stop plucking nerves here. Please stop attacking people and calling everyone on here "predictable", as you have been doing for this last week. Your opinion is wanted, but stirring up arguments isnt, come on mate. Cheers.

Smitty, please stop being a dick.

That trailer was great. Loved the framing of the title, a ballsy move to frame it like that. But then, the original is The Godfather of videogames. <-- This is the part where Smitty posts that cherylcole.gif. ;)

Ahh, this is where I start to see people tell me what my opinion of TLOU is, based solely on their personal animosity towards me divided by their personal love of the game.

I think you're in for a disappointment!

Did the International Commission for Comparing Games to Movies have an exceptional meeting and decide that The Godfather is now the the universal hardwave for 'This game is good' so that Citizen Kane could have a much deserved break.

Smitty ignoring what someone says just so he can repeat the same trite about "people only care about graphics!". Predictable certainties indeed.

When I finally played The Last of Us I went into it expecting to be very disappointed after all the hype, as I'd never really got the love for Naughty Dog, despite liking Uncharted 2. However, here's what I thought of it back then:

Wouldn't this apply to Death Stranding and your excitement?

I'm excited about the trailers themselves as creative exercises. I don't know anything about the game. In that sense the game doesn't even matter: i'm not excited about Death Stranding a game at the moment, I'm just enjoying its bizarre trailers.

I mean Hean said in that thread that he was puzzled by why I was interested in it, supposing that it would have a lot of cutscenes. Sure, maybe, but I'm not responding to the game - i'm responding to the trailer as its own thing. Nobody has any idea if these trailers are really representative of the game in any way.

Obviously I might have a different opinion of the actual game. I've been plenty critical of Kojima's work in the past.

Doom is the Seven Samurai of videogames.

Pls pls pls can we keep this about TLOU2 and not life, existance, the validity of trailers, Smit's acceptance of one trailer but not another, and Godfather 2.

I literally haven't given any opinion about the trailer. I'm poking fun at the usual spectacle/graphics whores, the sort who probably creamed their pants during the incredibly boring UC4 DLC intro to the PSX show.

And achieving what in the process? Let people be excited for whatever they want, it makes zero difference to anybody else.

I know but you know what its like, poking ends up in poking back, and I don't think it's fair to write off fans of that trailer as graphics whores.  Leave the poking to facebook circa 2006 and commodore 64s.

I've loved everything ND have made so far, so unless something crazy happens the game'll be great. The trailer was spot on - gives everyone what they want. Firefly symbol (cheer), elements of the original (and wonderful) soundtrack, an older (and seemingly rather pissed off) Ellie, and then there's the 'is he/isn't he' Joel.

I'm pretty sure it isn't Joel, but we'll see.

I'll be honest, I think Last of Us a quite brilliant piece of work and I could have happily not had a continuation as I thought the ending worked perfectly for me.

However, I'm equally happy enough to see what's happening in the world for sure :)

Just now, angel said:

Why are we saying it's not Joel? It's Joel, he walked into Ellies room and had a conversation with her.

I dunno - the voice didn't quite sound the same and the silhouette seemed considerably slimmer and younger looking to me.
