I wonder if they'll do anything to make the game easier to play for folk more used to Street Fighter 4/5? They're not bothered about making an arcade-perfect port since they've changed fundamental things like how throws work so perhaps they'll tweak other aspects of the game to make it less difficult?

Here's some wildly-loud Buddy Battle gameplay:

Last I heard they made inputs easier. Not David Sirlin-easier but easier. I could be wrong though.

This can now be ordered from Nintendo UK for £35 with either a t-shirt or a poster as a bonus. I'd probably end up buying that shirt for £20+ so not a bad deal (even though I'll likely buy the game digitally anyway*).

*as well.

Tbh there's not much there is there.. The fact that they're forced to use 'classic graphics' and the various playing modes as tho they're features is pretty dire. Does it offer online play? That's the only feature I can think of that would be worthwhile.

Still can't get over those HD visuals, holy shit.

Yes, it's the same UDON graphics from Super Turbo HD Remix.

Not sure about the music though, although I think the sound effects are new (well, I heard some of them were taken from Street Fighter iV, but still...)

The original graphics, music and sound effects are still there though, but only in "classic" mode.  I don't know if you can mix and match like you can on Super Turbo HD Remix.

EDIT: Yeah music is totally new, the Super Turbo HD Remix music wasn't used here

Aren't the HD visuals just the same as the version released on 360 all those years ago.

Yes, I think so. I never paid any mind to the 360 version back then so hadn't seen them before. I'm just amazed from an artistic point of view. They are awful, plain awful. The fact that they're being re used here just makes the package even more bizarre.

Do we know how much just the game itself is yet?  I don't know how much they value the t-shirt or poster at, but that £35 package suggests that the game is going to be well over-priced for me.

£35? LOLZ

I think I paid £20 for Hyper Street Fighter II on PS2 (which also contained the movie) and not much for the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.  So why is the Switch's price £35?!  Is it Brexit?

I just posted something similar in the Switch thread but I think it's more to do with the fact 'because they can'. People will pay it because there's not much else being released. Bomberman R showed that. Ok, they won't sell great but given the lack of development expenses, it's likely a nice little earner in the short term. Especially in the first 6-9 months of the Switch's release. The worry is that once Nintendo's big releases come out further down the line, third parties will be 'yeah ok guys, we've had our fun, we can't/won't compete with that' and drop what little support they've shown completely.

I paid something like £70 for Super Street Fighter II on the SNES, so £35 for Ultra Street Fighter II sounds like a bargain!!

LOL well if we're going all the way back... I paid £60 for Street Fighter II Turbo, then paid £60 for a US/NTSC version of Super Street Fighter II, then (I think) paid £50 for Street Fighter Alpha 2, all on Super NES.

Going by the amount I paid over the years being less and less, this should be practically free! ;)

Haven't played it yet but the reviews are no surprise. The price can be seen as a touch expensive but all that matters to me is that the online is smooth and that's it. Colour edit mode and the option of new graphics/sounds is nice but I don't really care. I think £25 would of been a fairer price for the retail but I'm still getting it. At the same time, if it was £10 digital download only it would of sold a lot more. I'm happy i can get it on a cartridge and stick my poster on the wall in my games room :)

Money well spent. Would buy again.

The colour editor passes the time, s'pose.

Way of the Hado is Switch's best fitness title and THE game to play on trains.

Surprisingly enough, I like playing with a single detached Joy-con. It feels oddly perfect to me. With Violent Ken at least.

No, but apart from that, I'm thoroughly ashamed of myself. They didn't even put any artwork on the inner sleeve.

Look at it this way. If this game by some miracle does well, all it proves to Capcom is that they can dump shovelware with zero effort onto the Switch. No big loss really if they decide to stay away in that case.

I'm also willing to bet that if the Switch goes on to be a massive succes, that Capcom will be back regardless of how well this game does. That's business.

Also, to end this post on a positive note: at least this game has an arcade mode! That is in no way guaranteed in Capcom fighters nowadays

Hopefully it means they'll reassess their pricing strategy.

USFII is my favourite Switch game to play in tabletop mode to date. Capcom would have been on to a critical and commercial winner at the right price.

Anyway, for those who want to spend even more on it, here's a NeoGAF thread about the release dates for Hori's new arcade stick and pro controller. I'm only linking to the thread and not a news article because it also shows that Angel got to move on to a better place.

Not sure why I'm getting negged for calling out Capcom on their bullshit. This game is a total ripoff, it serves them right that it's not sold, so to throw their toys out of the pram and say they're reassessing things is a proper dick move.

I can understand people are pissed off but it would be good once some of us have played it to give our own opinions. I'm looking forward to playing tomorrow and hopefully the online is up as well. Looking forward to a few games with the rllmuk massive.
