I may be in a game with you now!

I don't think so, I came offline to post this. Seen enough in 2 short sessions to know that I'm there day 1, and this time I'll give it the playtime it deserves which is something that I never quite got round to doing with the 1st one.

That's good, me and random Lee lost terribly. I was trying the motion controls plus joy con and couldn't get to grips. Doh!

It's been pretty excellent fun for me so far; stuck with the Splat-Duallies for a bit but I rarely remembered to make use of its dodge. I've switched to the Splattershot now and I'll try the other two as well.

It looks really lovely and, most importantly, squidding around in your own ink still sounds like stirring a pot of Cheesey Pasta with a wooden spoon.

I tried playing at 3am in handheld mode but not being able to adjust vertical aim with the right stick at all while motion controls are active made it awkward while lying down. I briefly tried with motion controls off but I couldn't do fine-aiming that way with the right stick. I'm using the Pro Controller on the TV now instead. I'd like to try using the separate JoyCon as well but the Pro seems pretty perfect.

It's taking a while for me to get used to X being map, rather than jump, coming from the first game (and Zelda). I've taken so many running-Maps off ledges. Having to bring up the map to spawn next to a team-mate is nowhere near as immediate as the original's always-on, touch-map either. That's a shame.

i thought this test was 12-1 lucky i saw you lot posting and got in 20 mins.

had some great games and just was stopped mid game. I'm getting used to using the map and spawn points. I don't know about this dodge move with the splat dullies though. They are my weapon of choice. I wasn't going to get this as i had the Wii U version but its looking like i'm gonna change my mind. I hope they have a more fleshed out single player this time.

The whole respawn business, can I choose where to go? The map comes up but no idea what I am meant to do. I just hit all the buttons

Pres X to show the map. Tap the "d-pad" button (so, button on the left joycon that corresponds) that is in the direction of the player you want to jump to. Pres A to jump to them.

Your teammates on the map will have directional arrows next to them; while the map is open you hold that direction on the dpad and press A. It's much less immediate than the original's method (you just touched your teammate on the Gamepad map).

You can do it at any time, too; not just when you respawn. You can also hold down and press A to Superjump back to the starting spot.

Had another session this morning and enjoyed it more. This time I played it in handheld more and it was glorious.

Bugger, will most likely buy it when it comes out. Didn't play that much of the original due to daughter being in screaming baby stage at the time.

Am I right in thinking that docked and undocked are both running at 720p? A bit odd if true.

It was ok but didn't seem to be that deep. I haven't played the first one so no idea if there's any progression or single player or unlocks etc.

Unless the reviews are awful I will probably get it because I'll be bored of Mario Kart etc when it comes out.

I can't aim very well with the gyro and move at the same time but with paint roller I'm pretty good. I didn't do the map and respawn thing but even with basic knowledge the game is fun. I had absolutely no intention of getting this game but now it's a must buy. Perfect for a quick 10 minute blast.

All those things. Once you start playing Splat Zones and Tower Control in ranked with everything unlocked, shit gets real.

The gyro controls seemed very accurate but fuck that.

It's a demo. Not sure what you were expecting to be frank. Also, you wait, those gyro controls will make you wonder why every FPS ever made didn't include them. It looks a lot shinier regardless of 720p - my TV is only 720p anyway so I'm happy. Don't know what I'm going to do when my Panny Plasma dies :( she's 8 years old now - not bad for £280 :)
