Where is the best place to pre order this from?

I've preordered from simplygames for about £44 but with them you seemingly pay up front. Good price but worth bearing in mind. I ordered my Zelda from them and it arrived day before release :-)

Gyro controls with detached joycons are great, but when playing in handheld mode, it needs stick look options.

Just ramp up the sensitivity in handheld mode. You don't need to tilt as much.

Thanks i will probably order from there then. How did this game go from not even being on my radar to must have day one!? Nintendo should do these kind of tests on all of their online games so people can get a taste and then be left dying for more.

Which one controls the aiming?

And there are stick look options in the, er, options.

I actually really enjoyed this.

For people who played the Wii U version..

Can you actually change weapons mid game (or at least per round without disconnecting from same group of people)

What other modes besides turf wars is there?

How many maps are there?

I couldn't figure out how to jump up some of the areas. The screen said hold a whilst pressing the dpad to jump higher but that never worked.

That's just with the map open so when you respawn. I never tried it actually out in the open

Nobody knows the answers yet.

Answering based on the Wii U version:

1) No, no changing weapons mid game.

2) There is Tower Control, Turf War, Rainmaker, Splat Zones

3) There was quite a few by the end (they kept releasing them as free DLC) - 15-16 maybe

4) I think you're mixing up super-jump (open the map, pick a team-mate (or the spawn point) and press A) and just general traversal - you can jump, but it's usually more efficient to paint a wall and swim up it etc

So obviously I'm not going to let my poor skill get in the way of my enjoyment of this game. It definitely seems like the perfect Summer game to pick up. And I'm sure that, as others have said, once I get my hands on the full game I'll be able to learn at my own pace and be matched up with similar ranked nublets like myself as well.

One question though: do all of the bestest players use motion controls or is it just a preference thing? From my limited time with the test fire I couldn't get to grips with either control scheme to be honest.

I'm pretty sure that the dual-stick players above rank B are in the minuscule minority. Especially the snipers. Maybe some rollers can do alright with dual-sticks.

Next time you play try using the right stick to hard-turn with gyro to fine-tune, and the gyro to tilt vertically. You watched the Etika stream right? He has an enlightenment moment towards the gyro near the end of his first stream.

Will I like this given that a) I don't enjoy online FPS' anymore, but b) I love ARMS and Mario Kart?

I'm just so torn. I tried that beta thing but wasn't sure what I should be doing.

What's it's thing?

Awesomeness.

Honestly, I think the first one was the best thing Nintendo have put out in years. So many ways to play it, so much depth, but also so easy to pick up and play right from the start. The gear you have from minute one is potentially just as useful and important as anything you earn later on - some of the very best players still just use the opening weapon set.The level that some players get to is insane (I'm looking at you JPN-roller guy), but there is a chance for everyone to find their groove and add to a team. Some people just concentrate on coverage and let others do the killing, some people just kill and hope others are handling the coverage - finding a balance is key really. I genuinely can't wait for this to come out - I'd have bought a Switch if this was the only game they ever said they were going to release.
