I've been hanging just fine, thank you. Though I need to stop being so insulting to Hunters (I fear I've been testing @Gorf King's patience). More importantly, however, I need to stop dying - I was bloody awful in the nightfall last night. I need more gear that provides resilience, rather than mobility and recovery. My warlock feels rather squishy at present, and I'm concerned I'm gonna be a liability, even at 280+, for tonight's first look at the raid. Need to stop being so gung-ho.

Edit: Thanks for thinking of me, fellas. I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy. :)

You were a good sniper on the bubble ogre boss in Taken King I have to admit.

Do not forget about us LeChuck :(

What's the plan with regards to Raid spoilers? I'm not going to be Raid Ready for at least two weeks, but want to do everything as fresh as possible and keep reading the thread. Separate thread for raid stuff?

Ha - coincidence. Dunno how long the full spoilers rule will be active yet, but it'll be at least 3-4 weeks, something like that, I'd imagine. We'll just have to see how it goes.

One thing I hate about Destiny is I always seem to be behind the curve and looking on, reading about stuff I cant do or understand yet.  Hopefully finish the story by the weekend and it will all start opening up to me.

You should've heard @FiniteLight last night breathlessly trying to optimise his time on the game so he'd be ready for the raid. Before we'd even said goodbye he was zooming off to complete some Patrol challenge in a desperate attempt to squeeze some better drops out of the evening's session, like a gambler trying to make up for a bad run by playing a few more hands before bed :P

Fucking outrageous length of post to say "No Raid spoilers"  what a nutter.

Ended up buying this at the weekend thanks to FOMO and it's good fun, so far an improved D1 in almost all areas. The PvP needs some work but I expect changes to happen sooner rather than later.

You could just say 'no spoilers' in the title, sure. Or you could think, yeah, maybe sometimes people have different ideas of what spoilers are, and try to put some context in, and a reminder, and a suggestion for another thread. Because it's never happened before that people on rllmuk have started arguing about what posts are spoilers and what aren't, and have had things spoiled for them in threads due to concepts of spoilers being different. But thanks for the quality shitpost. Look forward to many more.

No, he laid out the point clearly and thoroughly so even the worst mouth breathers on here could understand it. Although there will probably still be someone

Ha, I can imagine!  Thats what happens when you hang around with the uncool kids kicking a plastic ball against a wall, you need to make your excuses and leave then sprint down the park to play with the big boys on the full size pitch afterwards

I should get on tonight, get another couple of hours done on the main story.  Maybe do a strike as well if you are around?

Aye, well some people might have found it helpful, you never know. It's kinda nice to have a friendly and helpful community, and Destiny has one of the best of those. If I occasionally put a bit too much detail in trying to help maintain that, I don't see the harm. You can always skip the posts if you like. I must admit, I often find myself tempted to skip making them and just get on with enjoying the game instead.

On the first question, I'm not sure, as I haven't conducted tests on that, but I suspect any difference is pretty marginal. In D1, your overall light (aka power) level was easily the most significant factor, but there was a relatively small effect also attributed to the level of the weapon itself, so if you equipped a full loadout of 400 items except for one gun at 300, that would drop your overall light to 390, but against 390 enemies that gun would do proportionately less damage to the enemies than your others. I don't know the exact maths though.

I tested this last night using two identical pulse rifles, save for the power level (one was 136, the other 142). I swapped around my armour so that I was at 137 overall power level or thereabouts for both tests. The 136 pulse rifle did 66 critical damage, the 142 one did 69 critical damage. So yes, the power level of the actual weapon does make a difference, I just don't know how noticeable it is. I'll try it on a pair of weapons with a bigger disparity when I have them available.

EDIT: there seems to be an exact percentage correlation there. One is 4.4% more powerful than the other.

Haha, it was totally worth it too - first patrol thing I did I got the sweet PS4 sniper exotic from the engram it dropped ;)

I haven't had as much online time on this as I had hoped for so may miss raiding this week but what an amazing start to this instalment.  I was one of those totally disillusioned by the beta but the finished product is fantastic. Every time I have hopped on the planets are brimming with things to find and quests to complete.  I really hope (and I'm sure there is) loads of little easter egg quests like the black spindle from the taken king to discover down the road too.

I have been slightly swept up in the rush to get "raid ready" but am doing my best to try and just enjoy the activities as they unfold naturally too.  That being said I cannot wait for the first run at the raid, they have been the highlight of my gaming in the last few years and I am really interested to see what new things they have come up with.

Mug cereal is the original Red Bull. I should get a free Cheerios sparrow

Well, Devrim Kay is gay.

Destiny hasn't had an openly gay character before and, to my knowledge, neither has any other Bungie game. Yet Destiny is supposed to show the future of humanity - so it only feels right that the game reflects that.

I dithered over pointing it out at all - it shouldn't be a thing, really, when games are more inclusive. And yet, even in 2017, it still feels worth celebrating when this happens. So here we are. Well done, Bungie - I raise a cup of tea to you.

How about not celebrating it and accept it as *gasp* normal? Bungie did not make mention of it, why not just copy their behavior?
