Destiny 2: Lightfall

I'm a meaty 140 power/light/thingy and got to the bit where

Spoiler

you've got the band back together and now doing strikes and patrols and that for them.

I've found the balance so far pretty good, with the end bosses of missions just tough enough to be challenging. Now and then something will happen to remind me this is 'new Destiny' like how they've slightly tweaked the vex making them more fun to fight and destroy or how the rep with factions works which I assume will make sense later on. But otherwise this feels on the whole like the first one, but with shit outfits. Hoping that changes when I get to purple and gold drops...in a month or so...

Vive la grind!

Mida is the only scout being used. Needs an immediate nerf. And I hope said nerf fucks it up for pve as well. Hate that fucking stapler sound.

Mida is bungies not so secret fave weapon, it was op in Destiny and never got properly nerfed and never will in this either, I imagine in trials it’s a pita to deal with as it becomes a sweaty standoff at range with mida replacing snipers - Origin story destroys it if close enough so good in normal PvP.

I do wonder about the thinking behind making such a notorious PVP gun available so easily so relatively early in the game. They must have known what would happen.

In my opinion, it is about incentivising cross-pollination of players between PvE and PvP. The gun is actually only available after you have played a significant portion of the campaign single player/coop content. This then arms single player people to try PvP because they have a very good gun for it. But I find bizarre that the same thing does not apply to the guns handed for trials rewards, which are somehow PvP focused. In my opinion those guns should then do 10 times damage to raid bosses or something. So the design philosophy has been inconsistently applied.

Oh, it did get nerfed. The flinch it had was ridiculous and there is none of that now. I think the biggest fear is you see Mida and react differently as it really isn't anything special now apart from the good range and stability, which are hardly exotic tier bonus'; I'd say the biggest thing with it is the speed boost you get if you use it in conjunction with baby Mida.

Glad you got the milestone off your back @Oz. I would like it too but I'm not stepping into Trails again until the do something about the matchmaking. I think the current system is a travesty.

Me and muz had fun doing it. And getting better. Not sure I can say the same about anyone else who played. :(

Stomped on Trials on Friday then stomped on Trials on Saturday...

Here's hoping for scrub Sunday !!

we lost when up 5-4 and all supers. we lost against a team of three! etc. etc. so there is hope.

BTW assuming you mean winning one and not going undefeated.

I don't know why they fucked with the formula. The way they implemented Trials in D1 was great. You start off with equal level opponents and if you progress, not only do you get rewarded but you feel like you're improving as a player because you're beating teams who are (theoretically) better than you. By the time you get to the Lighthouse, you feel like you've earned it and become a better player as a result.

In this one, it's matches you up against teams that are Twitch level players, have probably multiple flawless runs already and are only playing to stomp you into the ground. It doesn't endear you to the game and virtually spits in your face and if by some act of God you manage to get past the first win, you'll get double arse-raped on the next game.

No thank you.

Yup, winning one and getting to the Spire is all I want really.

Can you use challenge tokens to get Trials gear from the first win vendor?

edit: when watching streamers, how come they drop supers like the Titan wall shield thing, then suddenly have half a super bar remaining?

Leave MIDA alone. It's not overpowered, just beautifully balanced. It's the fact that it's ubiquitous that may be an issue - the loot pool in this game seems tiny. That, and lack of imagination.

It'd be nice to hear some calls for buffs rather than nerfs. You know, make things feel better rather than worse. But hey ho, I got beat, bungiepls nerf.

This kind of attitude in your posts just makes me not want to contribute in this thread. God forbid people have a different opinion to you.

I’ve read that I shouldn’t have handed in a load of quests until I got to power level 265, especially ones that give “powerful rewards”.  Of course I read this after I had handed them all in.  Is this a min-max thing? I’m at about 262 now, doing lots of public events and patrols.  I’m a bit wary of doing Nightfall (cos I’m shite). I guess it will just be slower going but I’ll get there in the end by grinding?

Loving the game, I was previously an auto rifle fan (I think it suited my spray and pray style) but I’ve got an exotic scout rifle (Skyburners Oath) that is amazing, melts through Cabal like nobody’s business.

@sammy it's really just a tip for speedy levelling, rather than anything else. There's something of a speed bump in loot levels at 265 Power, and the only drops guaranteed to go higher than your level at that point are the "Powerful Gear" rewards.

So waiting until then means you get some help up. On the other hand, handing them in earlier boost you then, so it's a bit of give and take.

Because I think a gun is well balanced and shouldn't be nerfed? Sorry, but if someone disagreeing with calls for a nerf makes you want to never post, it's you that has an issue with different opinions to your own.

Many people here tired of the nerf cycle in D1 and don't want to see it repeated. You're going to see that opinion here lots of times if the same pattern emerges in D1. Part of the problem is the ubiquity of some weapons, part of it's that a lot of people just copy what others do - the meta is almost self-fulfilling.

If some weapons are noticeably weaker than others, they should buff those, not nerf the best ones. But it tends to be situational anyway.

It was never nerfed to the point it was useless like many of the meta guns, it was viable and top tier all through Destiny until the bitter end. Bungie defi have a soft spot for it as it’s so front and centre in the sequel too!
