Made it to 20 movies in cinema this year (new movies, seen more that includes re-releases), not a great way to hit the number with the disappointing Missing Link but already think this year better than last, when i’d have said at 20 anything below five was shades of grey, this year the vast majority have been really pretty good

In my commitment to being a sad person i like to spend my time checking near universally loved films and searching by lowest rating/review first to see how it's possible to hate The Matrix or Jurassic Park. 

 

It got me wondering if there is such a film that no one dislikes. I've yet to try 12 Angry Men, or come to think of it..Goodfellas. Which celebrates the disgusting behaviour of gangsters, fail already.

I have never seen A Clockwork Orange but it’s been remastered and showing at my Showcase next week

Not quite. I think it is an okay film; I just don't understand it's near-universal praise as, for me, it excels at nothing. It's just a solidly made feelgood movie. Which is absolutely fine (and something many films don't achieve), but I've never quite grasped why so many people have taken it into their hearts in such a strong way.

If by feelgood you mean the same way throwing up helps some people with a hangover

Any new 'muk Letterboxrs over the last year or so? I'm always looking for new people to follow but the standard 'popular' reviewer type (17 years old, with edgy 1 line reviews in all lower case) don't really do much for me.

They've updated the mobile app (at least the Android version) with two welcome changes related to adding films to lists.

 

You can now add one film to multiple lists at once. (In my case, this is useful for watching a movie and quickly adding it to the end of my "Films watched for the first time in 2021", "Films rented from Cinema Paradiso", and "Audio commentaries I've heard" lists all at the same time.)

 

The other change is that the list addition function now shows you which lists already contain your selected film, and its position:

 

 

(That example is Superman 2 - the theatrical cut - by the way!)

Looks like @lordcookie's account has gone from the site! Seems to have happened very recently; I saw his reviews and ratings were still there a few days ago.

 

Did you intentionally delete your account, @lordcookie, or was it automatically purged due to inactivity or some other reason?

 

End of an era if all the stuff you contributed is gone for good. Guess we'll never see you give a rating for Maleficent 3 on some New Year in the future.

It was done intentionally. I’m sure people will survive not knowing my opinion on Maleficient 3 (it will be shit if it ever happens).

Ah, that's a shame. It was always nice to watch a film for the first time and have a good chance of seeing your review on there afterwards.

I got an email from letterboxd at the beginning of the year and remembered I used to occasionally write reviews on there. So I started again!
